Chapter 26: A Quiet Conversation: My Assistant 🗨️

Published: July 25, 2025

I am Otto.

A man who loves his beautiful and adorable wife, Corinna, more than anyone else in the world.

Her cream-colored hair and gray eyes suit her overall gentle and soft aura perfectly.

Corinna has a straight nose bridge but slightly rounded cheeks that sometimes make her look a bit childish, which she worries about, and that makes her all the more adorable.

She calls me hopeless but still smiles and accepts me, and I love her for that.

Her large breasts are obvious at a glance, and when I hold her, she feels soft and smells wonderful—Corinna is simply the best.

I can shout it from the center of the world: my Corinna is the greatest!

Today, I met a boy named Lutz, who wants to become a traveling merchant, introduced by my assistant, Myne. I gently but firmly brought him back to reality and shattered his dreams.

"I'm home, Corinna. I've just returned. Benno came with me."

"Welcome back... How can you come back with that smile after bullying a child before baptism?"

"That pouty face of yours is cute, too."

When I spoke my honest feelings, Corinna sighed in exasperation.

Realizing I was genuinely being scolded, I shrugged lightly and tried to explain. It wasn’t that I wanted to bully him; I just taught a child who admired fairy tales a lesson in reality.

"It can’t be helped. There’s nothing good about becoming a traveling merchant anyway. Sure, I shattered his hopes, but it’s for his own good."

"That’s true, but..."

Corinna lowered her gray eyes and knit her brows painfully. Even though he’s a child, her worried expression for another boy made my heart stir just a little.

"Corinna, you’re so kind. To care so much about a child you’ve never met..."

"Get out of the way, Otto. Come inside quickly."

As I reached to embrace her and kiss her cheek, Benno suddenly kicked me hard in the back from behind.

Startled, Corinna moved me aside and welcomed Benno inside.

"Welcome, Brother Benno... You seem quite grumpy. Is it guilt over rejecting him?"

Corinna said this while looking at Benno, who usually seems amiable but now had deep furrows on his brow and no trace of his usual warmth. But Benno hasn't rejected Lutz at all, so he surely doesn’t feel any guilt.

"Corinna, no, that’s not it. Benno tried to scare Lutz away because he wanted to be a merchant apprentice, but he couldn’t, and on top of that, he had to accept the conditions Myne set. Myne outplayed him. That’s why he’s so grumpy."

"Otto—"

Benno growled in a low voice, but I ignored him and went inside with Corinna.

Benno probably felt like a child who had been outsmarted.

Good. He deserves to experience what it feels like to be surprised by Myne, as I often am.

Holding Corinna’s waist, pressing kisses repeatedly on her cream-colored hair, I headed to the reception room, only to get a fist jab from Benno, who said, "Do it when I’m not around."

I thought, "Don’t interrupt the couple’s relaxing time," but if I said that in front of Corinna, I’d get scolded, so I held back.

The reception room is where Corinna usually holds business meetings with clients. It’s always kept tidy in case guests arrive anytime.

In the center of the room stands a round wooden table, unlike the dining room’s rectangular one, surrounded by four chairs. Having fabric besides clothes is a sign of wealth, so this room has the most fabric in our house.

For example, a shelf along the right wall displays samples showing patterns of clothes Corinna makes, and a tapestry made by sewing leftover scraps hangs on the left wall, colorful and vivid.

Since I rarely have use for this room, just looking at Corinna’s work displayed here brightens my mood.

Sitting in one chair, I grinned at Benno who sat across from me.

"Wow, that turn of events was surprising. I never thought Benno would have to yield..."

"What? Benno? Tell me more, Otto."

Corinna's gray eyes sparkled as she sweetly begged for the story. She’s so cute.

After sitting next to me, she scooted her chair closer. Absolutely adorable.

Since she rarely begs like this, I silently applauded Myne in my heart and casually recounted the events of the day.
