Life in the castle is comfortable.
After waking up in the morning, I spend time reading until breakfast.
Unlike the temple, mornings here are leisurely, so I’m happy to make good progress in my reading. Early rising really does bring small benefits.
After breakfast, I join Wilfried and the knights order for training. To build up my stamina, I move my body just enough not to collapse. Under the watchful eye of Eckhardt Brother, we start with radio calisthenics, and by the time it ends, I’m already quite tired.
“Is that all there is, Rosemine?”
“...If you do it seriously, radio calisthenics is surprisingly tiring.”
Despite the shocked looks from those around me, I then walk around the training grounds until the session ends. Even though they say it’s just a little, I’m already exhausted.
When the third bell rings, training is over. I move to Wilfried’s room to attend the morning lessons together. Wilfried has learned a little reading, writing, and arithmetic, so before I knew it, geography and history lessons were added too.
“That’s unfair, Wilfried Brother! I want to read new books too, but you always read them first!”
Wilfried was ahead in geography and history, but I caught up in two days, and then he pouted.
“Why do you remember things so easily, Rosemine!? I struggled so hard!”
“That’s because I run around the territory during the harvest festival and prayer ceremonies. The tax officers explain the local specialties during tax collection, so I know about them.”
The two of us grumbled at each other, then got back to studying.
For history, we’re currently studying the time since Sylvester and Wilfried’s ancestors became lords of the land. It’s quite enjoyable. The family has been the lords of Ehrenfest for about seven generations in Sylvester’s line, with over two hundred years of history.
After finishing morning lessons, it’s lunchtime. I eat together with Wilfried.
In the afternoon, there’s time to practice Fischpiel, then Wilfried studies while I do sewing. I’m made to do embroidery and lace knitting. Apparently, I have to prepare my own bridal trousseau from now on.
“Richarda, do you think I don’t need this if I don’t get married?”
“Princess! What are you saying!? Of course you will get married!”
“...That’s true.”
I just complained a little because I was bored of sewing and embroidery, but Richarda scolded me thoroughly.
After a few days, I gave up complaining and quietly continued knitting lace. I silently wished I had Tulli’s or Mother’s skill.
When the fifth bell rings, it’s free time.
Wilfried often goes to see his younger siblings after getting permission before his parents leave. He has invited me along, but according to Richarda, since I’m not his full sibling, permission is never granted.
“I’ll go to the library, so Wilfried Brother, you should read picture books to your younger siblings.”
I said this to Wilfried and hurried to the library. It’s a blissful moment surrounded by countless books. However, this bliss doesn’t last long—it ends all too quickly.
When the sixth bell rings, Richarda separates me from the books and it’s time for dinner.
After dinner, Wilfried and I head to replenish mana. It’s better to do this after the clerks have left.
Bonifatius waits in the lord’s office to supply mana. But the supply is only for Wilfried and me. Bonifatius just assists Wilfried with his mana replenishment.
There must be someone conserving mana as the lord’s representative.
After the mana supply, I take a bath and then read until Richarda scolds me, “Time for bed, Princess!”
This is my weekday life.
On earth day, it’s a rest day. No studying, no training. We can do as we like. It’s very different from the temple, where life always follows the usual routine.
But it doesn’t mean I get to read.
Angélica returns from the noble academy on earth day, so we borrow a room in the main building, ask about her progress, and hold a study session.
“Angélica, how is the supplementary class going?”
