Chapter 178: Inauguration Ceremony 🎉

Published: August 3, 2025

The day after the baptism ceremony, the head priest granted me a day off. He also told Mother to keep an eye on me before leaving, and during breakfast, I was told to spend the day in bed. Forcing myself to recover with medicine sometimes causes setbacks later, so having a day to relax was truly a blessing.

“Rosemine, may I have a moment?”

“Brother Lamprecht? I don’t mind, but is something the matter?”

“I wanted to check on your condition. Lord Wilfried must be worried too…”

Brother Lamprecht came to see me before heading out to work, looking a bit downcast as if he had been scolded heavily. Seeing the usually lively and cheerful Brother Lamprecht like this made my heart ache, wondering just how much Father and the head priest had reprimanded him.

If I were an ordinary child, a simple scrape from a fall would have been no big deal. It wouldn’t have turned into a trauma.

“Lord Ferdinand deliberately did it to give you a stern lesson, so I don’t think you need to worry too much…”

“Ferdinand can handle his own medicine and healing, so he probably thought it was okay as long as he could keep an eye on you. Because you were rescued quickly, it only ended in a scolding. But what if the same thing happened in the castle and no one capable of healing was nearby? If you had been lost then, Lord Wilfried’s heartbreak would have been nothing compared to now.”

Huh? Somehow, the ruthless, pragmatic head priest sounds like a really good person.

“Originally, it was something I should have understood and taught you without troubling Ferdinand.”

Brother Lamprecht seemed deeply remorseful, but honestly, I think the one who should really be reflecting is the head priest, who left me with such widespread trauma. I wish they were a bit kinder to those around me and to me as well.

“Well then, as long as both Lord Wilfried and Brother Lamprecht are more careful from now on, that will be enough.”

“Rosemine, you are so magnanimous despite having almost died…”

Brother Lamprecht’s brown eyes brightened, showing surprise and admiration.

Uh oh. I feel like I’m being admired for all the wrong reasons.

“Um, it’s not like that. I’m used to that kind of situation, so one mistake doesn’t really bother me.”

“I see, how merciful.”

That’s not what I mean… But it’s no use explaining; it seems like he’s not really listening. Oh well.

“When I asked Lord Ferdinand what would be best to bring as a gift for your recovery, he handed me this as the optimal choice…”

Brother Lamprecht smoothly untied the cloth and took out a book.

“A book!”

“It’s definitely an amount you can finish in one day, and I heard it’s a book you haven’t read before, but can you really read such a thick book?”

He looked doubtful, comparing me and the book, but this amount is easy for me.

“I can! I will! Thank you very much, Brother Lamprecht!”

“I’m glad you’re so pleased. I’ll be heading back to the castle now, but make sure to rest well, alright?”

“Yessir.”

The head priest may be a ruthless pragmatist, but he’s a very good person. I suspect that if I fail to finish such a thick book in a day, I might pretend to be ill to avoid coming back to the temple, and he’s completely read my behavior—but I don’t mind.

…Thank you, head priest!

I spent the day reading a book about the basics of troop deployment that wasn’t available in the temple’s library. Because magic is used in troop deployment, it was confusing and I kept thinking, “Why does it work that way!?” which was very fun.

Thanks to the combined effect of the head priest’s healing and medicine, plus a slow day spent reading, my condition improved greatly. I also had Ella and Rosina inform the temple that I was returning, and I prepared myself.

After breakfast, the guard knights Darmel and Brigitte arrived. They knelt roughly and crossed their hands over their chests.

“Good morning, Lady Rosemine.”

“I will be returning to the temple from today. Please escort me.”
