Chapter Sixty-Eight: So Wronged!
"My senior sister was born into a poor family on the outskirts of the Heavenly Punishment Mountain Range. When she was five, her father went hunting in the mountains and died at the claws of a beast. Her mother, heartbroken, passed away three days later, leaving her only a jade pendant, which was the token of her parents' marriage."
"Before her mother died, she called my senior sister to her side and told her that she was not their biological daughter, but rather a child picked up from a wolf's den."
"My senior sister has faced hardships since childhood. After her mother's death, she was left all alone and nearly starved to death, but she was rescued by an elder from our Sacred Sect and brought back to the sect, where she grew up with a group of orphans taken in by the sect. Liu Rulong and I are two of them."
"I know my senior sister’s character all too well. She is kind-hearted, always using her cold and proud demeanor to disguise her fragile soul. She would never do something as lowly as drugging Mu Mengyi!"
"My senior sister is naturally beautiful and exceptionally talented. As she grew up, she was referred to as one of the Four Great Beauties, with countless disciples admiring her, but she never felt anything for any man..." Rongrong said, tears in her eyes as she looked at Tan Yun, "Until she met you!"
"You saved her from the mouth of the snowy domain demon ape, carrying her for thousands of miles through the snowy domain, which is why she fell for you."
"She is not good at expressing herself. Just half an hour ago, seeing her so heartbroken, I couldn't help but sneak over to find you." Rongrong wiped her tears and looked at Tan Yun, "She may have a sharp tongue but a soft heart. I know that even though she said she would sever ties with you on the Duel Platform, she still can’t let go of you."
"Alright, I've said everything I needed to say." Rongrong gazed at Tan Yun, "What I told you today, I hope you won't bring it up in front of sister Zhong Wu, and don’t mention that I came to find you."
"Tan Yun, I understand that feelings cannot be forced. I just want you to answer me honestly—can you answer a few questions?"
After hearing Rongrong's words and learning about Zhong Wu Shiyao's difficult past, Tan Yun sighed, "Sure."
"Thank you." Rongrong looked at Tan Yun and asked, "Have you ever had a moment where you had feelings for my sister Zhong Wu?"
Tan Yun recalled the moment when Zhong Wu Shiyao had changed into a white dress in the Purple Bamboo Forest of the snowy domain, looking ethereal and detached from worldly affairs. He replied calmly, "I have."
"Since you have, why are you being so heartless today?" Rongrong probed, "Is it because of Mu Mengyi?"
"No," Tan Yun shook his head, his expression complicated.
"Then why?" Rongrong was very puzzled.
"Because she is Liu Rulong's sister." Tan Yun's gaze was firm, "I will eventually kill Liu Rulong. Do you think I can still be friends with her?"
"How could this happen!" Rongrong's beautiful face trembled, "How did you come to have a grudge against Liu Rulong?"
"The Liu Family wants to exterminate my Tan Family, so I exterminated the Liu Family." Tan Yun said coldly.
"So, after you learned that sister Zhong Wu was Liu Rulong's sister, you said that if given another chance, you would never save her?"
"That's right." Tan Yun replied frankly.
"But this is too unfair to sister Zhong Wu, isn't it?" Rongrong felt a pang in her heart.
"There is no such thing as fairness or unfairness, is there?" Tan Yun retorted before sighing, "Help me tell her that we are fated but have no ties. I am determined to kill Liu Rulong, and if she seeks revenge on me because of it, I will not show her any mercy. If she doesn't interfere with this matter, then I will cherish the memories we shared as beautiful."
After saying that, Tan Yun turned and left...
Upon returning to the Mu Mengyi Pavilion, Mu Mengyi did not ask any questions but smiled gently, "You're back, quickly enter seclusion."
