Chapter 40: A Deadly Gamble
"Senior Sister Mu, I have injuries, so let's part ways here." Tan Yun thought about the upcoming battle with Ye Tian in a month, and he wanted to urgently begin healing and enter seclusion.
Mu Mengyi bit her lip, her expression filled with concern, "Tan Yun, you have many enemies, and you're injured. I can't rest easy with you alone; you should come to my place to heal."
"This..." Tan Yun hesitated.

"I don't mind; I just want you to be okay," Mu Mengyi said, slightly tilting her head, her gaze evasive, a hint of shyness appearing on her flawless face.
Beside them, Xue Ziyan glanced at Tan Yun, who was still hesitating, and said, "Senior Sister Mu is a girl and doesn't fear damage to her reputation by letting you stay there. Why are you, a grown man, hesitating? Really!"
"Ugh!" Tan Yun felt speechless and was too lazy to argue with Xue Ziyan. Was this really hesitating?
If he went, not only would Mu Mengyi's reputation be at stake, but if Linghu Changkong didn’t put off causing trouble for him because of the upcoming battle with Ye Tian, and came after him, Mu Mengyi would also suffer!
"Hmph, kid, at least you know your place. I warn you, if you dare go, I swear I'll make you regret ever coming to this world!" Suddenly, a deep and hate-filled voice rang out from behind Tan Yun.
Murong Kun approached with a dark expression!
"Shameless wretch, I don't want to see you. Get out of my sight!" Mu Mengyi suddenly turned around, her emotionless gaze fixated on Murong Kun.
Thinking back to how Murong Kun had used the soul-devouring powder on her, Mu Mengyi wished she could kill him right then and there!
"Haha, I’m definitely going!" Tan Yun sneered, "I want to see how you’ll make me regret coming to this world!"
"You dare!" Murong Kun gritted his teeth, raising his hand to strike Tan Yun!
"Whoosh!"
Mu Mengyi flashed and stood in front of Tan Yun, declaring without a doubt, "As long as I'm here, you will not lay a finger on Tan Yun. I suggest you think carefully, or else I won’t hesitate to defeat you in front of everyone and expose your despicable crimes, making you lose all face!"
Mu Mengyi was ranked fourth among the hidden dragons, while Murong Kun was only ranked tenth. He knew that fighting with Mu Mengyi now would be a humiliation for him!
"Good, very good!" Murong Kun clapped his hands, laughing angrily, "Mu Mengyi, let me tell you, whatever I want, I will get. Sooner or later, you will be mine!"
"You shameless!" Mu Mengyi was so furious that her body trembled.
Tan Yun watched this scene and took a step forward, smiling, "Mengyi, it's been almost a month since you had the wild game I roasted for you. I bet you must be craving it; let’s go and not argue with mad dogs. Just say what you want to eat, and I'll roast it for you."
Murong Kun's face nearly twisted with rage upon hearing Tan Yun affectionately call her "Mengyi"!
However, Mu Mengyi's next action made him even more furious, as if every word was a slap to his face!
"Alright! I want to eat wild rabbit and grilled fish. Tan Yun, let’s go; I can’t wait any longer." Mu Mengyi's beautiful eyes sparkled with longing, as she swallowed her saliva and reached for Tan Yun's right hand, turning to leave.
Tan Yun deliberately angered Murong Kun. Mu Mengyi, on the other hand, genuinely cherished the taste of the wild game Tan Yun roasted for her.
"Tan Yun, let go of her hand!" Murong Kun's uncontrollable roar echoed far away.
The disciples in the clearing paused to watch. When they saw Tan Yun and Mu Mengyi holding hands, they were not surprised, as the news of their embrace outside the Hall of Time and Space had spread among the outer sect a long time ago. Only Murong Kun was still unaware.
