Chapter 36: Fate Plays Tricks

As Tan Yun and Zhong Wu Shiyao walked side by side towards the teleportation array, each step Zhong Wu Shiyao took left a bloody footprint behind.

“Thank you for saving me earlier, otherwise, I would have been in grave danger,” Tan Yun said sincerely.

“Tan Shidi, you’re too polite. If it weren’t for you, I would have been dead long ago. Today, you were in trouble, how could I just stand by?” Zhong Wu Shiyao replied gratefully.

Previously, Tan Yun only regarded Zhong Wu Shiyao as a fellow disciple, but now he considered her a friend.

In Zhong Wu Shiyao's heart, she could never forget that moment when the snowy domain demon ape bared its fangs at her, and he had protected her behind him!

“Are you seriously hurt?”

“Are you seriously hurt?”

Almost at the same time, the two turned to each other and asked.

Then, they both said in unison, “I’m okay.”

After two consecutive identical responses, a hint of a smile appeared on Zhong Wu Shiyao's pale face, but it was quickly replaced by a look of pain!

“Don’t force yourself, let me help you,” Tan Yun said, just as he was about to support her, she softly interrupted, “Wait.”

In Tan Yun's puzzled gaze, Zhong Wu Shiyao took out a snow-white silk scarf from her Qiankun Ring and whispered, “Lift your right arm.”

Tan Yun’s eyes flickered with understanding as he raised his right arm, revealing the exposed white bones.

As Zhong Wu Shiyao carefully bandaged Tan Yun, she noticed that although beads of sweat dripped from Tan Yun’s forehead due to the pain, he didn’t furrow his brow even once.

“If it hurts, just say so. It’s not something to be ashamed of,” Zhong Wu Shiyao said, feeling for some reason that the young man before her was a man with a story.

This feeling was strange; it was just something she sensed.

Tan Yun smiled lightly, changing the subject, and said softly, “I’ll help you.”

“Okay.” After a brief hesitation, Zhong Wu Shiyao nodded. Faintly, a blush appeared on her previously pale face...

Ye Tian watched the scene of Tan Yun supporting Zhong Wu Shiyao with a fierce glare, muttering, “Damn Tan Yun, how dare he even touch a woman that Senior Brother Linghu has his eye on!”

“And that so-called beauty from the outer sect’s four great beauties! Senior Brother Linghu has pursued her for so long, yet she has been indifferent to him. Now she lets a man help her walk; how shameless can she be!”

...

Zhong Wu Shiyao, being supported by Tan Yun, paused as they entered the cave dwelling where the teleportation array was set up, her expression worried as she said, “Tan Shidi, you were too reckless earlier. You shouldn’t have issued a death challenge to Ye Tian; he’s ranked ninety-eighth on the Hidden Dragon Rankings.”

Tan Yun was taken aback, “What? His ranking is that high? No wonder I couldn’t compete with him after advancing to the eighth layer realm!”

After his surprise, a slight smile appeared on Tan Yun's face, as if he were talking to himself, or perhaps replying to Zhong Wu Shiyao, “Reckless? Maybe!”

“Tan Shidi, tell me the truth, what are your chances of winning a month from now?” Zhong Wu Shiyao asked, her brows furrowing.

Tan Yun, with an extremely confident expression, replied, “Although I’m not clear on my exact chances, I firmly believe that the one who will walk off the Duel Platform alive will definitely be me!”

Zhong Wu Shiyao looked at the self-assured Tan Yun and cautioned, “Tan Shidi, although your ability to challenge those above your rank is indeed astonishing, Ye Tian is still a strong opponent ranked in the top hundred of the Hidden Dragon Rankings. You must not take it lightly. In the coming month, you should focus on healing your injuries and training.”

“Thank you for the reminder.” After Tan Yun said this, he seemed to remember something and asked curiously, “Shijie, I noticed that Ye Tian seems to be quite afraid of you. Could it be that your ranking on the Hidden Dragon Rankings is even higher than his?”
