A few hours later, the sky was filled with stars, and the bright moon hung in the air.
Tan Yun was flying with Shen Subing when he suddenly hovered in mid-air. Under the moonlight, it was faintly visible that a trace of sadness flickered in his eyes.
He gently held Shen Subing's hand, feeling the warmth in her palm.
"Subing," he said softly, "Do you see the Monument of Sorrowful Longing over there?"
Shen Subing followed his gaze and saw a stone monument standing tall against the backdrop of the night sky, its surface shimmering with a mysterious light.
"I see it," she replied, her voice as soft as the breeze.
Tan Yun's heart ached as he thought of the deep blood feud that loomed over them.
"That monument represents the sorrow and longing of those who have lost their loved ones," he continued. "Every time I see it, I can't help but feel a surge of emotions."
Shen Subing looked at him with concern. "You don't have to bear this burden alone, Tan Yun. We will face everything together."
Tan Yun smiled faintly, grateful for her support. "You're right. With you by my side, I feel stronger."
As they hovered together, the tranquility of the night enveloped them, momentarily easing the weight on their hearts.
The moonlight bathed them in a silvery glow, and in that serene moment, they both made a silent vow to fight for their future and for each other.
Because Tan Yun discovered that the once rich in heaven and earth divine essence and ancestral power, the Dominion Star, had now become utterly shattered.
In Tan Yun's memory, there stood a stunningly exquisite ancient tower at the center of the Dominion Star, which was the residence of Fang Zixi.
But now, the ancient tower had long collapsed, reduced to ruins.
Looking at the Dominion Star, images resurfaced in Tan Yun's mind from over two million years ago, when he and Yu Yunxi left Heavenly Gate Divine Island, preparing to head to Eastern Continent Divine Domain, and Fang Zixi chased after him.
"Tan Yun!" A heavenly sound, filled with reluctance, echoed from behind Tan Yun in the void.
"Zixi!" Tan Yun turned around suddenly, only to see a white beam of light shooting towards him.
After a few breaths, the white beam landed on Tan Yun's Divine Vessel, transforming into a figure in a white dress—Fang Zixi.
"Zixi, why are you here..." Before Tan Yun could finish, Fang Zixi tiptoed, cupped his face with both hands, closed her eyes, and kissed him on the lips.
When Tan Yun regained his senses, the captivating Fang Zixi had already left, soaring into the vast void, looking down at Tan Yun. A tear slipped from her beautiful eyes as she called out, "I’ll wait for you to come back!"
At this thought, Tan Yun’s mind broke off. He gazed down at the overgrown Dominion Star, tears blurring his vision as he cried out in anguish:
"Fang Zixi, come out!"
"You promised me that you would wait for my return. I’m back now; please come out!"
"Zixi, will you come out... please?"
Shen Subing wanted to comfort the sorrowful Tan Yun, but for a moment, she didn't know what to say.
After a long time, Tan Yun gradually calmed down and, along with Shen Subing, descended onto the Dominion Star, attempting to find any clues left by Fang Zixi.
But still, they found nothing.
"Husband, what do you plan to do now?" Shen Subing asked.
Tan Yun took a deep breath and said, "I refuse to believe that Zixi is dead."
"Yes, I don't believe it either." Shen Subing's beautiful eyes sparkled with a glimmer of intelligence, "Husband, you once told me that there were two major forces in the Northern Divine Domain, namely the Northern Ancestral Dynasty and the Northern Divine Palace."
"And Zixi was the young palace master of the Northern Divine Palace. Back then, the Northern Sovereign Emperor united with other forces in the Northern Divine Domain to jointly destroy the Northern Divine Palace."
"That's why Zixi fled to the Western Continent Divine Domain to establish Heavenly Gate Divine Palace."
"If Zixi didn’t have this background, I believe she would rather die than let the Heavenly Gate Divine Palace perish."
