“Xiner, why are you in such a state…”
As they watched, Tan Yun felt a surge of emotions. His heart was filled with a mix of surprise and jealousy.
Xin Bingshuan, standing beside him, furrowed her brow, her expression revealing her discomfort. "It seems like they are quite close," she murmured softly, her voice barely audible.
Tan Yun clenched his fists, a sense of determination washing over him. "We can't just stand by and do nothing," he said firmly.
The two of them exchanged a glance, both understanding the unspoken agreement between them. They had to confront the situation and find out what was really going on.
With that thought, they soared through the air, heading towards the couple at the summit, ready to uncover the truth behind the unexpected scene before them.
“I... I'm fine,” Shangguan Yuxin choked out. “Let's go.”
“Mm.” As Zhong Xing nodded, his peripheral vision caught something, and he frowned, suddenly turning to see Tan Yun and Xin Bingshuan.
“Xiner, I understand now.” Zhong Xing gently released Shangguan Yuxin and cupped his fists towards Tan Yun. “You must be Tan Yun.”
“You know me?” Tan Yun was puzzled, as he and Xin Bingshuan landed in front of Zhong Xing and Shangguan Yuxin.
“Of course I know you.” Zhong Xing cupped his fists, bowing deeply to Tan Yun. “I am Zhong Xing, thank you.”
“Hmm?” Tan Yun raised an eyebrow. “What are you thanking me for?”
Zhong Xing straightened up, gazing affectionately at Shangguan Yuxin before turning to Tan Yun. “I've always liked Yuxin, but she has someone in her heart, and that person is you, Tan Yun.”
“Now that I see you here, it means all these years, you were pretending to be dead.”
“During the years you were pretending to be dead, Yuxin was heartbroken. It was because of this that I had the chance to be close to her, to care for her, to nurture her, until I could heal the pain in her heart.”
“So, I thank you.”
Hearing this, Tan Yun was worried that Yuxin would be angry with Zhong Xing, but Shangguan Yuxin wiped away her tears and playfully pinched Zhong Xing, making him wince in pain.
“Serves you right for talking nonsense!” Shangguan Yuxin feigned anger, clearly in a teasing mood.
Seeing Shangguan Yuxin's actions, Tan Yun secretly breathed a sigh of relief; he could tell that Yuxin truly liked Zhong Xing.
“I was wrong, I was wrong, okay!” Zhong Xing quickly begged for mercy from Shangguan Yuxin.
“Hmph, that’s more like it.” After speaking, Shangguan Yuxin looked at Tan Yun with her red, swollen eyes and forced a smile.
“Tan Yun, we have fate to meet and have experienced life and death together, but it’s regrettable that we didn’t have more time to get to know each other.”
“To forget you, I spent thirty thousand years. But I don’t hate you because you did nothing wrong.”
As she spoke, tears blurred Shangguan Yuxin's vision. “Tan Yun, we will still be good friends in the future, right?”
“Of course!” Tan Yun said sincerely. “You will always be my friend.”
“Mm.” After nodding, Shangguan Yuxin, with tear-filled eyes, glanced at Zhong Xing and then looked back at Tan Yun. “Although you are my friend, I don’t want you to appear at my wedding in three years.”
“Will you blame me?”
Tan Yun shook his head. “No.”
Listening to the conversation between Tan Yun and Shangguan Yuxin, Zhong Xing was actually very clear; after all, Tan Yun was the first man Shangguan Yuxin loved, and she still couldn't let go.
“Thank you.” After speaking, Shangguan Yuxin looked at Xin Bingshuan, her gaze turning cold. “I hate you, not just because I treated you as a good sister, but you deceived me.”
“When Tan Yun hadn’t entered the Ancient Fire Prison yet, you already knew I had feelings for him. I repeatedly asked you if Tan Yun was still alive, and you kept saying he was gone.”
“If you hadn't lied to me, perhaps Tan Yun and I wouldn’t have ended up like this.”
