Chapter 21: Walking on Thin Ice
As Mu Mengyi regained consciousness, she began to recall the events that had transpired, albeit intermittently.
Thinking back to the moments when she had thrown herself into Tan Yun's arms, only to be met with his domineering kiss and the tearing of her red dress, she felt an overwhelming sense of shame, causing her cheeks to flush.
“Tsk tsk, what a beautiful body,” Tan Yun remarked while helping Mu Mengyi get dressed, his eyes inspecting her figure with intrigue. “I didn't expect this little girl to be so sensitive even after fainting.”
With a mischievous grin, Tan Yun couldn't help but pinch Mu Mengyi's proud chest. “Hehe, so elastic. Sigh, you’re lucky to have me to keep your innocence intact. If it were another man, it would be strange if he could resist such a stunning beauty.”
Mu Mengyi felt a surge of anger and humiliation, nearly spitting blood. She never expected Tan Yun to comment on her body and even go as far as to touch her.
She wanted nothing more than to open her eyes and scold Tan Yun. However, remembering how he had risked his safety to save her, she ultimately held her tongue.
At the same time, she questioned herself; Tan Yun was by no means a lecherous man. How many men could resist a woman like her after being affected by soul-devouring powder?
As Mu Mengyi's heart was in turmoil, Tan Yun's next actions stirred a ripple in her frozen heart.
After dressing her in a belly band and undergarments, Tan Yun sat beside her and gently lifted her wounded feet, placing them on his knees. A trace of emotion flickered in his starry eyes as he murmured softly, “Even if she fell into the water, her boots wouldn’t come off. It seems she removed them out of exhaustion after leaving the pond to find me.”
“Your feet are hurt like this; it must be very painful. Sigh, what a foolish girl…”
With a rip, Tan Yun tore two strips of cloth from his clothes, his expression serious as he carefully lifted Mu Mengyi's left foot to bandage it.
Once he finished wrapping her left foot, he worked on her right foot.
Listening to Tan Yun's mutterings, Mu Mengyi, in a moment of stealth, slightly opened her eyes, a warm current rushing through her heart.
She saw Tan Yun, sitting diagonally across from her, focused and serious while bandaging her. Suddenly, she felt no hatred for the man who had stolen her first kiss and seen her naked.
It seemed Tan Yun remembered something; after gently placing her feet on the ground, he swiftly exited the cave. Not long after, he returned holding the boots Mu Mengyi had discarded.
“Senior Sister Mu, you're awake,” Tan Yun smiled slightly, placing the boots beside her.
“Tan Shidi, what happened? Where is this? And why is my red dress torn?” Mu Mengyi feigned confusion to avoid embarrassment.
“Senior Sister Mu, here’s what happened,” Tan Yun explained. “We successfully evaded Murong Kun's pursuit, and now he believes we are dead.”
“Later, you fell into a coma, and I found this cave in the valley. Your dress got snagged and torn when we entered the cave.”
Mu Mengyi nodded slightly, appearing to understand, then feigned panic, “Tan Shidi, I didn’t do anything outrageous while I was poisoned, did I?”
“Of course not,” Tan Yun replied without revealing any emotion. “After you fainted, I found some detoxifying spiritual herbs in the valley and gave them to you. How do you feel now?”
“I feel weak all over,” Mu Mengyi confessed honestly.
“Senior Sister, feeling weak after taking the antidote is normal. You will recover in about half a month.”
Upon hearing this, Mu Mengyi's beautiful eyes reflected deep guilt. “Tan Shidi, I’m sorry; I’ve caused you trouble. But rest assured, when we return to the Sacred Sect, I will not stand by idly when Murong Kun tries to deal with you.”
“Senior Sister, no need to be so polite. In such circumstances, anyone would help you,” Tan Yun said with a polite tone, his expression turning serious. “Senior Sister, you mentioned that Murong Kun has background?”
