"Jing Yun is quite remarkable. He possesses great potential, and the other divine kings agree with my assessment. We are willing to support him, but he must prove himself worthy."
Bai Xuanyi clenched his fists, his expression conflicted. Although he was upset about the situation, he couldn't ignore the weight of the divine kings' opinions.
"What if he fails? What if he disappoints everyone?" Bai Xuanyi questioned, frustration evident in his tone.
"Everyone deserves a chance," Xuan Yuan Rou replied calmly. "Jing Yun has already shown incredible strength. His past doesn't define his future."
"Strength isn't the only thing that matters," Bai Xuanyi countered, his voice rising. "His character, his decisions—these are what truly matter!"
Xuan Yuan Rou sighed, her gaze unwavering. "You think I haven't considered that? But sometimes, you must take risks. This is how we grow."
A tense silence lingered between them, filled with unspoken emotions. Bai Xuanyi's thoughts raced as he tried to find a way to express his concerns without sounding dismissive.
Finally, he said, "What if he becomes a danger? What if he goes down a dark path?"
Xuan Yuan Rou met his gaze directly, determination shining in her eyes. "Then we will guide him. We will be there to steer him back. It's our duty as divine beings to protect those who have potential, even if they stumble along the way."
Bai Xuanyi opened his mouth to respond, but the words eluded him. Deep down, he knew she was right; yet, a part of him remained skeptical.
"Just trust the process," Xuan Yuan Rou continued, her voice softening. "Jing Yun's journey is just beginning, and we are all part of it."
Reluctantly, Bai Xuanyi nodded, though the unease in his heart lingered.
"Then, I will immediately preside over the beginning of the fifth game and let the other divine kings' sons kill Jing Yun."
Hearing this, Bai Xuanyi transmitted, "Father, if that's the case, then there’s no hope for me to win. I still want to defeat everyone and become the named disciple of the celestial master your excellency!"
"Silly child." The supreme divine king transmitted, "Let me tell you the truth: no matter the outcome, the celestial master your excellency will accept you as a named disciple. The celestial master your excellency spoke to me about it last night."
Upon hearing this, Bai Xuanyi reluctantly nodded, then floated down from the Fifteenth Divine Altar, "I concede! Xuan Yuan Rou, let's see how you help your fiancé buy time!"
This scene surprised Tan Yun and Xuan Yuan Rou, but both felt it was within reason!
"Fiancé?" Li Shiyin felt an inexplicable sense of loss upon hearing the word "fiancé." She murmured to herself, "So he... already has a fiancée."
"And that fiancée is an extraordinarily beautiful woman."
Celestial Master Lingxia seemed to see through Li Shiyin's thoughts and transmitted, "Daughter, are you unhappy knowing that Xuan Yuan Rou is Jing Yun's fiancée?"
Li Shiyin smiled sweetly and transmitted, "What’s there for me to be unhappy about? Jing Yun is nothing to me, so why would I be unhappy?"
Upon hearing this, Celestial Master Lingxia smiled and said no more.
At this moment, everyone present could see that Bai Xuanyi's supposed concession was merely an attempt to become the executioner that would push Tan Yun's life to the brink!
The supreme divine king stood up and said loudly, "Now the fifteen participants entering the fifth match will start drawing opponents."
Tan Yun took a deep breath and stood up, side by side with Xuan Yuan Rou and the fourteen others.
"Buzz—"
With a wave of the supreme divine king's right arm, fifteen divine power light barriers floated above everyone's heads, allowing them to choose freely.
"How much of your strength have you recovered?" Tan Yun recalled Xuan Yuan Rou's question in his mind.
"About eighty percent." Tan Yun replied truthfully.
"Eighty percent?" Xuan Yuan Rou's expression grew serious, "Do you have confidence in defeating any opponent here?"
"I do." Tan Yun's gaze was firm, "You don't need to worry about me; no matter what, I must claim victory!"
