Chapter 9: Elephant Armor Technique

Han Li recalled this and a faint knowing smile appeared on his face.

Over these past six months, he and Zhang Tie had naturally become close friends who shared everything, due to their similar temperaments and backgrounds.

Han Li slowly loosened his crossed legs and rubbed his calves. Long hours of sitting and practicing had caused some numbness in his legs and slight blockage in his blood vessels.

After massaging a few more times, the sensation in his legs fully returned. Only then did Han Li stand up from the mat, habitually brushing off the dust that had settled on him before pushing open the stone chamber door and stepping outside.

He glanced back at the stone house where he practiced, chuckling to himself a little.

This chamber was hollowed out entirely from the solid granite mountain wall, and the door was made from a single large slab of bluestone. Any ordinary person trying to break in from outside would have no chance unless they wielded a massive mountain-cutting axe for a long time.

Such a secluded training room was reserved only for sect leaders, elders, or hall leaders within the seven mysteries sect. Even core disciples of the seven absolutes hall were not allowed to have one casually.

These stone chambers were specially built for practicing profound internal martial arts, to prevent interference from external factors during training and to avoid qi deviation.

No one knew what method Doctor Mo had used to persuade several elders to permit the construction of such a stone chamber on the mountain wall inside Divine Hand Valley—one that ordinary disciples could not use.

Once completed, Doctor Mo personally assigned the chamber exclusively to Han Li. When this decision was made, Han Li felt somewhat honored beyond expectation.

Doctor Mo was far too kind to his disciple. Since the day Han Li officially became his apprentice, Doctor Mo had been giving him various medicines daily and soaking him in decoctions made from unknown herbs.

Although Han Li did not know the names or effects of these medicines, seeing Doctor Mo’s usually expressionless face soften with reluctant affection every time he used them gave Han Li some understanding of their preciousness.

Clearly, these external aids were effective. Han Li’s cultivation speed had improved noticeably, and recently, he had finally broken through a barrier and mastered the first level of the nameless incantation.

However, during the breakthrough, a few of his meridians nearly ruptured, causing moderate internal injuries. Thanks to Doctor Mo’s superb medical skill, the damage was not severe. Coupled with his willingness to use premium medicine, Han Li suffered no lasting aftereffects.

After Han Li was injured, Doctor Mo was even more anxious than Han Li himself. Throughout the treatment, he was restless and uneasy, only breathing a heavy sigh of relief when he saw Han Li’s injuries improve.

Doctor Mo’s behavior went far beyond the usual relationship between master and disciple, which left Han Li with an inexplicable feeling of unease.

If it weren’t for the fact that no one else from Han’s family except Third Uncle had ever left their poor mountain village, Han Li might have almost believed Doctor Mo was a distant relative from his own family.

After leaving the stone chamber, Han Li stretched lazily and slowly made his way back to his quarters. After officially becoming a disciple, he and Zhang Tie had moved out of their previous shared room, each now having their own private small house.

Passing by Zhang Tie’s house, Han Li casually glanced inside.

As expected, Zhang Tie was not there, probably training again under the waterfall at Red Water Peak.

Since becoming Doctor Mo’s official disciple, Han Li was still instructed to practice only the nameless incantation, with no hint of being taught other techniques.

Perhaps to comfort him, Doctor Mo was generous with his medical knowledge, teaching Han Li hand-in-hand and answering all his questions thoroughly, even allowing him free access to all the medical books in his room.
