Chapter 883: Indifference
The man in the blue robe was shocked and hurriedly activated the brocade handkerchief-like magical artifact under his feet, shooting it backward, trying to evade the attack of the two Ape Vultures.
But he clearly underestimated the two Ape Vultures. As second-level demonic beasts, they naturally possessed some magical abilities.
Before the two demonic birds landed, piercing, wailing cries like those of apes burst out.
The man in the blue robe, upon hearing the sound, felt as if his brain had been struck by a heavy hammer, and his body wobbled uncontrollably, unable to stand steadily. A stench wind immediately pressed down on his head. With a cry of “Ah,” his face instantly turned pale.
Almost simultaneously, two muffled thuds sounded. Two fist-sized fireballs shot out from somewhere, silent and incredibly precise, striking the two demonic birds.
An explosion erupted, red light flashing as two blazing flames wrapped the Ape Vultures inside. The intense heat instantly spread throughout the nearby space.
The ape-like cries abruptly ceased.
The man in the blue robe was naturally thrilled, feeling as if he had escaped death. He was not foolish and immediately activated his magical artifact, shooting himself more than ten yards away with a "whoosh," then hurriedly pulling out a talisman to stick on his body.
A layer of yellow light shield suddenly appeared around him.
Only then did the man in the blue robe feel a little relieved, realizing that practicing spells and actually fighting were two entirely different things. He had almost lost his life as a foundation establishment stage cultivator.
Thinking this, he glanced down to one side and immediately saw Han Li, wearing a cloak of the same color. Surprised, he naturally knew who had saved his life.
Han Li, with foundation establishment stage cultivation base, had released two fireballs. Naturally, he couldn't have immediately killed the two second-level demonic beasts. Instead, the two Ape Vultures burst out of the flames, their ferocity greatly increased.
At once, the two demonic birds, their feathers singed off considerably, no longer cared about the man in the blue robe but turned to pounce on the carriage where Han Li was.
The other Ape Vulture, with one claw severed, had blood-red eyes and still lunged at the man in the blue robe.
Han Li frowned slightly at the two giant birds rushing at him, then suddenly slapped the storage bag at his waist. Two white beams shot out.
After a flick in the wind, two snow-white centipedes about half a foot long appeared in the air.
Compared to the Ape Vultures, these two centipedes were disproportionately small, but once released, they seemed unusually excited, emitting strange squeaks fearlessly charging straight at the two Ape Vultures.
The two demonic birds pounced but, seeing the summoned centipedes, their ape-like heads inexplicably shrank slightly. Their wings flapped wildly, then they hovered in place, even sniffing carefully before turning and fleeing in great fear.
The aura of these ancient exotic insects was naturally not something low-level demonic beasts dared to approach.
However, the two centipedes showed no intention of letting them escape. After a strange cry, they opened their mouths, releasing two surging flows of white misty cold energy, instantly turning the nearby area into a sea of white.
The Ape Vultures only managed to wail before being swallowed up.
With a "whoosh," the two centipedes dived resolutely into the cold mist.
Seeing this, Han Li no longer paid attention to the current situation and turned his gaze toward the man in the blue robe.
The blue-robed man was sweating profusely, fiercely wielding a small sword magical artifact, locked in battle with the largest injured Ape Vulture.
Although the demonic bird was heavily wounded, it remained fierce, its entire body turning into a brown-gray shadow. It agilely twisted and turned around the man in the blue robe, using its only sharp claw to viciously strike at the light shield, all the while crying out incessantly, causing the man great annoyance and distraction.
