Chapter 881: Demonic Worm and Demonic Corpse
Inside an airtight secret chamber, a high blue stone altar table stood, surrounded by more than a dozen formation flags of various colors, forming a temporary magic formation that emitted a faint spiritual light.
On the altar was an emerald green round bowl resembling a formation array, from which green mist rose continuously. Within the mist, a vaguely shaped infant sat cross-legged, exhaling clouds and smoke as if cultivating some cultivation technique.
At each corner of the secret chamber, an elderly cultivator with white hair sat cross-legged, each holding a cyan-green magical flag. All the flags pointed towards the round bowl in the center, with slender streams of green mist slowly drifting from their tips towards the bowl.
This strange scene looked like a painting—everything was utterly silent.
After an unknown amount of time, fatigue showed on the faces of the four old men. The infant within the green mist seemed slightly clearer than before after that period.
"Let's stop here for today. Thank you, fellow cultivators, for your efforts. In a few days, Junior Brother Gui should be able to recover on his own. I am deeply grateful," said a red-haired elder sitting in the northwest corner of the chamber as he retracted his magical flag, stood, and bowed respectfully to the other three.
"Hehe! Brother Hun, there’s no need for such formality. We have known Junior Brother Gui for a long time. It is only right to lend some help," replied the three elders as they also retracted their flags. One pale-faced old man hastily returned the bow.
"Regardless, this kindness will be remembered by Junior Brother Gui and me," said the first elder to rise, casting a sincere glance at the infant still cultivating.
"Haha, fellow cultivators, there is no need to be so polite," another elder smiled and said.
"By the way, the four of us have been helping Junior Brother Gui repair his nascent soul in this chamber all along. We haven’t heard any news about those outsiders. It’s really hard to believe that someone in this world can control over ten thousand golddevourer worms. It’s unbelievable. We all know how difficult it is for golddevourer worms to lay eggs. I came late and didn’t participate in the battle to block off that outsider. That person is terrifying to such a degree that three nascent soul-level immortal masters fell in battle," the red-haired elder said gravely.
At these words, the other three elders exchanged glances, each revealing expressions of lingering fear.
"That person’s horror cannot be described simply. Besides controlling the golddevourer worms, he also wields a kind of purple flame and releases golden lightning. The first batch of immortal masters who confronted him suffered two injuries and one death from a single encounter. Most of the damage came from these two cultivation techniques. The golden lightning can trap an immortal cultivator’s nascent soul, while the purple flame easily eliminates it. Even the later immortals, being cautious, still had two who couldn’t resist and were killed," sighed the pale-faced old man.
"Not only that, the magical treasures controlled by this outsider are extremely powerful—an unusual set of golden and cyan flying swords, numbering over sixty or seventy, razor-sharp. Several of our comrades’ treasures were split in two just by touching these swords. What’s even more sinister is a pair of wing-shaped magical treasures on his back that allow him to use the thunder escape technique without incantations, making it impossible to track his movements. Don’t laugh at me, Hun brother, but six or seven cultivators at our level surrounded him simultaneously and were still hard-pressed, sweating and barely holding on. Some of us even considered retreating temporarily. Fortunately, Immortal Master Hu arrived in time, secretly unleashing the ‘Great Five Elements Immortal Seizing Hand’ in a surprise attack that severely injured him. However, after being gravely wounded, the outsider suddenly turned into a blood-red shadow and disappeared from the encirclement. None of us could detect any trace with our spiritual awareness. It was only when Immortal Master Hu said that the man was hundreds of miles away that we learned of his whereabouts, but it was too late to pursue," explained a slightly plump elder, recalling the event with some horror on his face.
