Chapter 878: Five Ghosts Locking the Spirit Great Technique

“Ah!” At the moment the bushes parted, a startled cry came from the young man’s mouth, and his body staggered backward several steps, nearly falling to the ground.

This young man named Tu Meng was pale with terror!

“What’s going on?” The members of the Canglu Tribe, who had been watching everything intently, were shocked. Some of the younger tribe members immediately drew their knives and swords, preparing for any unexpected danger.

“Don’t act rashly. Tu Meng, what happened?” Yinglu was still clear-headed and immediately saw that the youth was merely frightened, not injured.

“Chief, there’s an immortal master inside, but he looks…”

“Hmph! What’s wrong with how I look?”

Before the young man could finish his sentence, the azure light flashing wildly within the bushes suddenly vanished. Then, after a cold snort, a figure strode out.

Everyone, including the elders, was stunned and quickly focused their attention.

Before them stood a man in a white robe. He was of average build, and his white robe clearly marked him as an immortal master. However, his face was hidden beneath a strangely styled teal hooded cloak. At his waist hung several bulging pouches, and on his back was a wooden box about a foot long.

“I am Yinglu, chief of the Canglu Tribe. Greetings, Immortal Master! May I know your honorable name?” Upon seeing this person appear, Yinglu immediately dismounted, bowed deeply from a distance, and showed utmost respect, careful not to offend. The other tribe members dismounted and bowed as well.

“Canglu Tribe? Never heard of it. My surname is Han. I was just cultivating my techniques inside—what are you all doing here?” The white-robed man cast a cold glance over Yinglu and the others, his tone sharp.

“So it’s Immortal Master Han. We had no idea you were cultivating inside earlier. Please forgive our intrusion. May I ask which tribe you are affiliated with? Perhaps I know your tribe.” The elder breathed a sigh of relief upon realizing this immortal master was not hostile.

“I just left the master stage not long ago. I’m not currently serving any tribe.” The white-robed man’s eyes flickered briefly as he answered coolly.

“Ah! So you’re free. Since you appeared here alone, you must be heading to the Sanctuary. The spiritual awakening day only occurs once every twenty years. I’m sure Immortal Master Han wouldn’t miss it.” Yinglu’s tone grew even more respectful upon hearing the man was unattached, his interest piqued.

“That’s right, I am going to the Sanctuary. Are you here to pay tribute? But why aren’t any immortal masters accompanying you?” The white-robed man glanced at the carts behind them, clearly curious.

“We, the Canglu Tribe, are a small tribe and don’t yet have any immortal masters stationed here. That’s why…” The elder explained humbly, noting the man’s curious demeanor. He suspected the claim of recently advancing to the master stage was genuine.

This thought strengthened the elder’s earlier vague intuition.

“Since your presence was unintentional, I’ll let this incident slide. You may leave.” The white-robed man hesitated briefly, then waved them off, indicating they should leave immediately.

Seeing the white-robed man so easily let them go, Yinglu, who had been worried about the unknown identity, immediately made up his mind.

He did not leave. Instead, he took a deep breath, then smiled and said to the immortal master:

“Immortal Master, since you’re also headed to the Sanctuary, would you consider temporarily accepting our Canglu Tribe’s employment? If you accompany us there, I’m willing to pay you twenty spirit stones.”

“Hire me?” The white-robed man was taken aback, clearly surprised.

“That’s right. Since you’re going to the Sanctuary anyway, why not travel with us? Without an immortal master to guard the convoy, I’m genuinely afraid we won’t arrive safely. After all, the road is full of dangers.” The elder spoke with sincerity.
