Chapter 88: Golden Light Shield

Master Golden Light stood proudly in the middle of the arena, with the wild wolf gang members behind him.

Before his appearance, he had already guaranteed Jia Tianlong that he alone could handle all the participants from the seven mysteries sect in the duel. Naturally, as his reward for taking on the entire battle, the originally promised five thousand taels of gold had now increased to eight thousand.

Just thinking about the vast amount of gold he would receive afterward, Master Golden Light felt a fiery excitement in his heart. He glanced contemptuously at the opposing crowd, eager to slaughter them all.

Han Li was not standing with Li Feiyu but positioned himself on the other side of the crowd.

Since Li Feiyu was with Zhang Xiu’er, quietly whispering intimate words between man and woman, Han Li naturally wouldn’t be so tactless as to disturb their little world.

“Really don’t know what those two lovebirds are thinking? To be talking about love in such a life-or-death situation!” Han Li felt a twinge of bitterness rise in his mouth.

Snapping back to reality, Han Li, like the others, stared curiously at the dwarf facing them.

“All the wild wolf gang members are hiding behind, and they sent out a dwarf dressed so plainly to lead the charge? That’s unbelievable! Could that dwarf possess some extraordinary skill?” Han Li blinked, thinking this to himself.

Sect Master Wang obviously shared the same thought as Han Li. He didn’t allow others to rush forward all at once but sent out a protector armed with a knife to face the dwarf. It seemed he wanted to first probe the dwarf’s abilities and then make further plans, to avoid unnecessary casualties.

Although it was a chaotic duel, if both sides only sent one person to fight, forming a one-on-one duel was understandable. Sect Master Wang thought this way and acted accordingly.

Master Golden Light saw the lone figure from the opposing side walking toward him and began to understand their intention.

He let out a strange chuckle — a rasping voice that made those who heard it feel uncomfortable.

The protector dispatched was a burly man in his thirties, with a fierce expression. The veins on his hand gripping the knife bulged, clearly a close-combat expert wielding a blade. Hearing the odd laughter, he remained calm and poised, showing his experience in battle.

As the burly man approached, Master Golden Light stopped laughing. He calmly took out a piece of yellow talisman paper from his bosom. The talisman gleamed with golden light, covered in intricate golden characters and patterns, clearly of great value.

The dwarf ignored the approaching burly man, holding the talisman paper in one hand while beginning to chant a spell.

The protector from the seven mysteries sect, though unsure what the dwarf was up to, was very experienced in combat and knew that whatever the dwarf was doing, it was best not to let it complete; otherwise, it would spell trouble.

Without hesitation, he leapt forward, covering several steps in quick strides until he was right in front of Master Golden Light. He swung his steel blade fiercely, its chilling gleam flashing as he aimed a powerful strike.

Just as the blade was about to land on Master Golden Light’s head, the spell was completed. Before the steel knife could reach him, he slapped the talisman paper against himself, and immediately an incredibly bright and dazzling golden light shone from where he struck.

The blinding golden glow made the burly man’s eyes unable to see clearly, yet he did not panic. He still swung the steel blade down hard.

“Clang!” A metallic clash echoed across the arena.

The burly man felt a burning heat at his tiger’s mouth, and the weapon in his hand nearly slipped free. Shocked, though he still could not see clearly, he sensed the danger. He pushed off with his toes and quickly backed up several yards before stopping, holding his blade ready in defense.

At this moment, many people inside and outside the arena gasped in astonishment.
