Chapter 86: Sudden Change

Following his command, more than thirty disciples dressed in brocade robes rushed out from the main hall.

These people didn’t utter a single word; silently, they began setting up the deathmatch arena on the open ground in front of the hall, using wooden stakes and ropes to mark the boundaries. Judging by their swift and skillful movements, each one was well-trained—not ordinary low-level disciples of the seven mysteries sect.

Watching the duel arena being prepared, Li Feiyu felt uneasy and asked Han Li, “Are we just going to hide here all the time, doing nothing and watching them fight? That doesn’t seem right!”

“What’s wrong with that? Your little sweetheart isn’t in any danger now; she’s perfectly safe. Once their duel is over, we’ll take advantage of the chaos when the wild wolf gang withdraws to secretly bring Miss Zhang out. Then you two can escape far away, find a place where they can’t find you, and avoid becoming scapegoats forced to shoulder that heavy black pot you can’t bear,” Han Li said calmly. It seemed he no longer felt much loyalty to the seven mysteries sect.

“Isn’t that running away together? No way, Xiuer won’t agree to that!” Li Feiyu shook her head vigorously.

“Then just knock her out, forcibly take her away, and let the rice cook into a finished dish,” Han Li replied casually.

“You...” Li Feiyu was speechless, glaring at Han Li in frustration.

As the two were caught in this back-and-forth, Sect Master Wang solemnly received two blood-red documents from a disciple—these were the Life-and-Death Contracts. He kept one copy for himself and ordered someone to hand the other to Jia Tianlong across from him.

Jia Tianlong’s expression turned serious as he carefully opened the document and scrutinized it cautiously. After confirming everything was in order, he nodded, closed the contract, and began selecting death warriors for battle.

After some filtering, he chose thirteen elite experts from the wild wolf gang. To reduce losses, he also picked a dozen capable gang members from smaller factions. Whether these people were willing or not, once they signed the Life-and-Death Contract, they had to fight desperately to save their own lives. The remaining fighters were all iron guards skilled at cooperation nearby. Of course, Master Golden Light would be taking part too—Jia Tianlong was counting on his flying sword technique to unleash great power!

While Jia Tianlong was busy, Wang Juechu had returned to the stone hall at some unknown time and had yet to emerge, probably racking his brain over selecting fighters for the deathmatch.

When the deathmatch arena was finally completed, Sect Master Wang led three to four hundred people out of the hall.

They were men and women, old and young, but each one’s eyes shone with spiritual radiance and their steps were steady—clearly all elites of the seven mysteries sect. What drew Jia Tianlong’s attention the most were the three figures trailing closely behind Wang Juechu.

One wore a flowing Confucian robe, exuding scholarly aura, looking every bit a literati; another was tall and burly, bare-chested with a bristling steel-needle-like beard, looking fierce and imposing; the last was a cold-faced man in gray clothes carrying a long sword on his back.

At first glance, these three looked to be in their thirties or forties, but upon closer inspection, their brows and features showed the weariness and worldliness of men in their seventies or eighties, making them seem much older than their appearance suggested.

Jia Tianlong understood in his heart that these three were definitely Wang Juechu’s three senior uncles. It looked like the other side was truly going all out, determined to keep him here.

Thinking this, he turned his body slightly and pointed to the three men. He asked the dwarf Master Golden Light beside him, “Master, what do you think of those three? Can you handle them?”

“They’re just a few mere mortals. Once my flying sword strikes, their lives are finished! What’s there to worry about? Don’t you trust me?” Master Golden Light glared, displeased, his tone somewhat unfriendly.
