Chapter 813: The Inner Valley
“This is the Inner Valley?” Han Li couldn’t help but mutter to himself as he gazed at everything before him, his face filled with a strange expression.
A little over ten zhang behind him stood a cliff more than a thousand zhang high. At the base of the cliff was a small cave entrance.
Han Li had just come out of this cave, not long ago.
Beside him, the Marquis of Nanlong and the old man surnamed Lu stood side by side, also staring at the scene before them with equally astonished expressions.
Before them lay a vast mountain range, dotted with countless ridges of varying sizes, stretching as far as the eye could see. At the same time, it was a world of dazzling colors.
Both the sky and the ground were filled with drifting patches of faint rosy light.
These glows varied in color and size. The larger ones spanned several li, resembling the evening clouds in the sky, while the smaller ones were only a few feet long, like thin veils of silk, all incredibly radiant.
What surprised Han Li and the others wasn’t these clouds but the extreme chaos of the spiritual energy in this place. All kinds of spiritual energy attributes were mixed and intertwined, giving off a restless and irritable feeling. It was as if the slightest touch could anger them.
“This place truly deserves to be a battleground for ancient cultivators. It has even completely destroyed the foundation of the heaven and earth spiritual energy here. As a result, no matter who casts spells here, they are bound to be affected,” the Marquis of Nanlong said after a long look, exhaling deeply.
“That’s still secondary. The main problem is those things. They are the real trouble,” Han Li suddenly raised his hand and pointed to a spot in the sky, smiling bitterly.
A few hundred zhang away in the air, there were about a dozen white light glows about a chi long, drifting slowly.
The Marquis of Nanlong and the old man Lu took a closer look and were instantly shocked.
“Spatial rifts? How can there be so many? And they move on their own!” Lu Weiying shouted.
At this moment, the Marquis of Nanlong’s face darkened.
“That’s normal. Since this is an ancient battlefield, it’s expected to have more spatial rifts than outside. Otherwise, how could so many dazzling nascent soul cultivators enter here and never return? To avoid accidents, from now on we must follow Master Cangkun’s route exactly. Otherwise, hehe...” Han Li glanced at the Marquis of Nanlong and chuckled softly.
“Brother Han is right. We must not take any risks or go off track. Who knows where the invisible spatial rifts might appear? Although these moving rifts sound terrifying, as long as we notice them, their speed won’t pose a threat,” the Marquis of Nanlong pondered and gradually calmed down.
“But the density of spatial rifts here is at least ten times that outside. And Brother Nanlong’s method only works if the invisible spatial rifts don’t move as well. If they scamper around like the visible ones, then Master Cangkun’s route may not be safe now,” Lu Weiying frowned, staring thoughtfully at an area dense with spatial rifts.
Han Li was taken aback by this and tilted his head slightly. His eyes shone with a brilliant blue light, and he soon spotted a faint arc of light about a hundred zhang away, floating motionless in the air.
After watching this invisible spatial rift for a moment, Han Li settled his mind.
But just as he was pondering whether to share this information with the others and how to do so, the Marquis of Nanlong, seeing Han Li’s thoughtful expression, misunderstood him. After a moment’s hesitation, he said something that surprised Han Li greatly:
“Fellow cultivators, don’t worry. That kind of invisible rift doesn’t move. Master Cangkun’s will confirmed this.”
“Brother Nanlong, how can you be so sure? How did Master Cangkun find out?” Lu Weiying’s spirit lifted but his tone was still doubtful.
“Brother Lu, do you think that when Master Cangkun was severely injured in vital energy, how could he safely escape Fallen Demon Valley? It was all thanks to a magical ability he cultivated that could sense spatial rifts. That’s how he managed to get out of the valley. Otherwise, even in his prime, he couldn’t have left unscathed,” the Marquis of Nanlong calmly explained.
