Chapter 807: The Path to the Inner Valley

On the west side of Fallen Demon Valley, atop a small hill covered in brown rocks, two figures—one sitting and one standing—were waiting on the summit.

The one sitting cross-legged was a white-robed elder with a kind and gentle face; the standing figure was dressed in fine clothes with a lofty crown, his long beard reaching his chest.

They were none other than Lu Weiying, an elder of the Heavenly Pole Sect, and the Marquis of Nanlong.

The Marquis of Nanlong stood about five or six zhang ahead of Lu Weiying with his hands behind his back, seemingly calmly gazing into the distance, but a flicker of anxiety could be seen in his eyes.

“Brother Nanlong, there’s no need to be so impatient. That person likely chose a more secluded location to teleport to; naturally, it will take more time for him to arrive. Didn’t we see with our own eyes him enter the magic formation and be teleported here?” Lu Weiying, sitting on a large rock with his eyes closed, seemed to sense the Marquis’s restlessness and suddenly spoke.

“That’s true enough! But you know how dangerous Fallen Demon Valley is. Some threats can’t be handled just by having strong magical abilities. And this time, we absolutely cannot lack that person. Otherwise, this trip to the Fallen Demon Valley might have been in vain,” the Marquis of Nanlong sighed, then turned his head with a hint of helplessness.

“As for the Arctic Primordial Light, that’s one thing. You need the Two Polarity Rings to get through. But is that fire toad beast really that formidable? Otherwise, why would we have insisted on bringing that person along after only getting the rings?” Lu Weiying opened his eyes and couldn’t help but complain.

“Whether it’s formidable or not, I’ve never seen it with my own eyes. But in Master Cangkun’s posthumous writings, the beast was indeed described as terrifying. It’s best to find a cultivator whose cultivation techniques counter this beast to deal with it. Otherwise, even if we can handle the beast, it won’t be easy—there’s a chance we could end up severely injured in vital energy. In such a perilous place, I don’t want to give anyone an opportunity,” the Marquis explained, furrowing his brows.

“Brother Nanlong makes a good point. It seems after the incident on the Mulan Prairie, you’ve become even more cautious. However, I’ve seen some descriptions of the fire toad beast in certain ancient texts. This ancient beast wasn’t that famous in ancient times. According to those descriptions, it shouldn’t be that hard to deal with. But since Master Cangkun said so, I guess the beast in the valley might be a mutated fire toad,” Lu Weiying pondered and shared his judgment.

“Mutated? That’s possible. But I think the reason is that this beast has no natural enemies in the valley and has been cultivating for so long,” the Marquis of Nanlong disagreed with the elder’s view.

“Now that things have come to this, there’s no use talking. That fire toad must be destroyed. And the path leading to it is filled with Arctic Primordial Light. Anyone unprepared will never get through. At least we don’t have to worry about someone else discovering the ancient cultivator’s remains before us,” Lu Weiying closed his eyes again and said calmly.

Seeing the elder so composed, the Marquis gave a slight smile. Just as he was about to say more, his expression suddenly changed. He quickly turned and looked up into the sky.

In the distance, azure light flickered, then an azure rainbow slowly flew over.

“It’s him. Finally arrived,” said the Marquis of Nanlong, who was familiar with Han Li’s light speed. A smile of relief appeared on his face.

Hearing this, Lu Weiying hurriedly opened his eyes and stood up.

Though outwardly calm, the elder was obviously anxious inside.

The azure rainbow seemed very cautious, moving at a moderate speed. After a while, the light speed reached them overhead.

The azure light contracted, revealing a figure wearing a hooded cloak, hovering above the two, bowing his head to look down at them.
