Chapter 754: The Gathering of Old Monsters
“That person is an old acquaintance from long ago. I haven’t seen him for many years. I was just a bit surprised to see him suddenly,” Dong Xuan’er replied calmly, though her expression was somewhat strange.
“An old acquaintance? That person is an early nascent soul cultivator, yet he can attend today’s gathering. Judging by his youthful appearance, he should be the recently renowned elder of the Luoyun Sect. Incidentally, he shares the same surname Han, and his name is exactly the same as the one you mentioned before. Could it really be him?” Elder Yunlu Demonic asked Dong Xuan’er in a composed manner without anger, despite her stiff reply. It seemed their relationship was unusual.
Dong Xuan’er’s face turned pale at the old demon’s words but she remained silent, not uttering a single word.
A cold glint flashed in Elder Yunlu Demonic’s eyes. After snorting coldly, he ceased further questioning, though a shadow of gloom crossed his brow.
When the old demon brought Dong Xuan’er to the palace entrance, the foundation formation cultivators on duty were all cautious. After asking a few questions, they quickly allowed passage. Of course, Dong Xuan’er was not permitted inside and was instead led by a cultivator to a side hall to rest temporarily.
After Han Li entered the palace gate, he soon saw the entrance to the main hall and immediately quickened his pace to enter.
The main hall was simply arranged, with massive stone pillars standing tall. In the large empty space in the center, exquisite wooden chairs were placed at intervals of several dozen feet, numbering about sixteen or seventeen.
Scattered across these chairs were seven or eight cultivators, each with different expressions.
Upon seeing Han Li enter, some glanced coldly, others ignored him completely, and some closed their eyes to rest. All went about their own business, indifferent.
However, one of them saw Han Li’s arrival and smiled kindly, beckoning him over.
“Fellow cultivator Han, you’ve come out of seclusion. If you don’t mind, just sit beside me,” said Long Han, the Tian Dao Alliance’s local leader and master of the Luanming Sect.
“Thank you, Brother Long!” Han Li accepted without refusal and sat down on the chair beside him. He then took a brief look at the others present before sitting quietly in silence.
After a moment, Elder Yunlu Demonic appeared at the entrance.
Seeing the people inside, he chuckled and strode to an empty chair, sitting down arrogantly.
Near where he sat was a blue-robed elder. This elder held a small emerald green pot in one hand and a white jade wine cup in the other, drinking silently as if alone.
When Elder Yunlu Demonic sat nearby, a faint scent of cosmetics immediately wafted out, causing the blue-robed elder to glare at him and secretly feel unlucky.
The old demon paid no mind to the elder’s displeasure. Instead, after a few flickers of his eyes, his gaze landed on Han Li diagonally opposite, examining him with renewed interest.
This made Han Li restless.
Frowning, he closed his eyes gently and expressionlessly sat still, deep in thought about the relationship between the old demon and Dong Xuan’er.
After Dong Xuan’er was abducted by the young lord of the Heartsong Sect back then, she joined the demonic path sect. Although Elder Yunlu Demonic had a notorious reputation, he shouldn’t have harmed disciples of this sect. There must be some other connection between them.
Otherwise, the old demon wouldn’t have come here to attend the gathering while bringing Dong Xuan’er along.
Just as Han Li was puzzled, people began to enter the hall one after another.
These newcomers were all mid nascent soul cultivators. Some knew those who arrived earlier, while others harbored intense hatred. As a result, greetings and cold sarcasm echoed intermittently in the hall.
At this point, Elder Yunlu Demonic had already diverted his gaze from Han Li.
But Han Li still sat motionless, not even raising his eyelids. He knew he barely recognized a few among the mid nascent soul cultivators, so there was no need to greet anyone.
