Chapter 73: Li Feiyu’s Thoughts
As soon as Madam Li entered the room, she smelled a strong stench of blood and decay. Then she saw Sect Master Ma and Elder Qian sitting cross-legged on either side of the bed, both with their eyes closed, regulating their breath.
Between the two of them was a basin filled with ink-black blood. The foul smell was coming from the water.
Their faces were somewhat pale, clearly showing that, just as Han Li had said, they had expended a great deal of cultivation.
Madam Li’s heart instantly grew grateful toward the two of them.
Although she didn’t know martial arts herself, having been immersed in that environment, she knew it was taboo to disturb them at such a moment. So she quickly slowed her steps and quietly approached the bedside, looking at the person lying there.
Elder Li was sleeping soundly, his previously furrowed brow now smooth and free of pain. Although his complexion was still a bit pale and yellowish, the black aura that had hovered over him had completely vanished. The poisonous spots on his body were now nothing more than faint watermarks, almost invisible.
It seemed the toxin had truly been completely neutralized. Tears of joy streamed down Madam Li’s face.
After a long while, she wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and suddenly remembered she should return to thank Han Li properly. She quietly left and made her way back to the living room. But as soon as she stepped outside the door, she was immediately surrounded by a crowd, bombarded with questions from all directions. Yet, she didn’t see Han Li among them.
Surprised, she hurriedly asked Ma Rong and the others.
From their replies, Madam Li learned that after Han Li had written out a prescription to nourish the body, he had already taken his leave, disappearing without lingering even for a moment.
After hearing this, Madam Li was momentarily speechless. But she had already resolved in her heart that once Elder Li’s health had fully recovered, she and her husband would personally visit to express their gratitude with a generous reward for saving his life.
Madam Li didn’t notice that besides the divine doctor Han Li, one person was missing from the room—that was Li Feiyu, who had previously been inseparable from Zhang Xiu’er.
Under a dense tree beside a secluded path, Han Li, having just left Elder Li’s house, lay on the grass with his hands behind his head, bored out of his mind as he counted the green leaves on a nearby branch.
When he reached nearly a thousand, a dark shadow swooped down like an eagle hunting its prey, lunging at him with fierce intent, as if harboring a deep grudge.
“Hey! Stop it! Every time we meet, why do you always want to get physical? I’m not Zhang Xiu’er!” Han Li called out.
Upon hearing this, the shadow deftly twirled in midair and gracefully landed beside Han Li. It was Li Feiyu, who had been rushing to catch up.
“Han Li, with your dark and sullen looks, how could you possibly compare to Miss Zhang? Aren’t you just embarrassing yourself?” Li Feiyu said.
Hearing this, Li Feiyu lightly tapped Han Li’s backside with his right foot in a playful reprimand.
Han Li rolled his eyes and then did a somersault to stand up.
“Looks like Senior Brother Li Feiyu values beauty more than friendship. I really made a bad choice in friends!”
“Cut the nonsense. Why did you drag me out here? I finally found an opportunity to get close to Miss Zhang, and you just wasted it. If you don’t give me a good reason, you’re not getting away!” Li Feiyu said indignantly, clearly furious at Han Li’s strange summons.
“Did I even invite you out? When did I say that?” Han Li pretended to be shocked, exaggerating his expression.
“When you came out, the way you winked at me was obvious to everyone but a blind person. Stop beating around the bush. If there’s nothing going on, I really have to go.” Li Feiyu turned to leave, his demeanor making Han Li unsure if he was serious or joking.
Han Li decided not to tease him further. His expression suddenly turned serious as he said, “Don’t blame me for being blunt, but as a friend, I have to ask—does Zhang Xiu’er know that because you took the Bone Marrow Extracting Pill, you only have a few years left to live?”
