Chapter 726: Huanglong Mountain
More than half a month later, atop Huanglong Mountain near the border of Yu Country and Lizhou, inside a cluster of exquisite pavilions, a burly man in his forties with a bald eyebrow was pacing back and forth in a certain hall, a trace of anxiety showing on his face.
After a short while, the burly man plopped down into a rattan chair, took a small sip from a cup of clear tea on the table, allowing his troubled mood to calm for a moment. Suddenly, a streak of red light shot in from outside, swirling and dancing beneath the ceiling of the hall.
The burly manâs expression changed at once. He reached out toward the red light, and it instantly descended into his palm, transforming into a blazing flame.
He immersed his mind in the flames, but his face soon darkened.
After a moment of silence, the burly manâs face turned somewhat ashen. Suddenly, he reached into his bosom and produced a small jade-green bell in his hand.
Without a word, he tapped the bell with a short, thick finger.
With a clear "clang," a pleasant and melodious bell sound filled the entire hall, echoing continuously and spreading far in all directions. Soon, similar bell sounds erupted all over the summit of Huanglong Mountain. Within the clusters of pavilions, various lights rose up. Cultivators dressed in diverse garments hurriedly flew out from inside, then skillfully dispersed in all directions.
Before long, a thick green mist began to spread around the entire Huanglong Mountain, transforming dozens of miles around into an eerie emerald green Sea of Mist.
At this moment, several cultivators appeared inside the hall where the burly man was. There were three men and one woman, all foundation formation cultivators.
Among them, two men in their thirties looked exactly alike â they were a pair of brothers. Another man wore a Taoist robe and held a duster whisk, clearly a middle-aged Taoist. The only female cultivator was petite and had very delicate, beautiful features.
The four stood on either side of the burly man, all with solemn expressions.
âSenior Lu, is it really true that the spellmaster army has arrived so soon? Last time we received news, wasnât the group of spellmasters headed here still being held off by Senior Diviner? Could it be that in just seven or eight days, the âHeavenly Wind Profound Wave Formationâ he guarded was broken? Are we mistaken about something?â the female cultivator hesitated, disbelief evident on her face.
âMistaken? I wish it were so, I really do.â The burly man sneered darkly. âBut this transmission talisman was sent personally by Diviner Tuoz, and heâs badly wounded. The routed cultivators and their pursuers will arrive soon at Huanglong Mountain. Donât harbor any illusions. We canât wait for reinforcements; we must face the enemy alone first.â
The four foundation formation cultivators before him exchanged glances, bitter smiles appearing as they agreed reluctantly.
Just as the burly man issued several orders, instructing the four to act separately to prepare for the impending great battle, another red light suddenly shot in. This startled the burly man and the others, causing some suspicion.
The burly man froze for a moment but hesitated not a bit, immediately snatching the transmission talisman into his hand.
The flames inside the hand flickered wildly. As he clearly heard the message, an extremely strange expression appeared on his face.
âSenior Lu, whatâs the matter? Have the spellmasters broken through here?â The female cultivator, unable to hold back, finally asked. The other three looked grim at the question.
âNo! Itâs our reinforcements. Three fellow cultivators at the nascent soul stage are just outside the grand formation. Hong Ling, you four, hurry out to greet the three seniors and bring them here.â The burly man smiled broadly, holding back his excitement as he spoke calmly.
Immediately, the four foundation formation cultivators rejoiced. They saluted and rushed out to welcome the three nascent soul stage fellow practitioners.
