Chapter 72: Extracting the Poison
Han Li complained to himself silently, but to maintain his image as a divine doctor, he still had to appear confident and smile quietly without saying a word.
Han Li’s calm demeanor reassured everyone present. They thought the effects of the pill were just as he had predicted, which made them admire him even more.
Sect Master Ma laughed happily, with a hint of pride in his smile, as if Han Li already belonged to him. Perhaps he believed that, for now, he was still the most likely person to gain Han Li’s allegiance, which explained his joyful expression.
But soon, the situation changed.
“Not good!” Zhang Xiu’er exclaimed.
“The dark aura on Uncle’s face seems to be rising again.”
Her words startled everyone. Several impatient people hurried forward to take a closer look, including Elder Zhao.
Han Li was slightly taken aback upon hearing this but did not push his way to the bedside with the others.
Madam Li, however, was a perceptive and considerate person. She quickly stopped the two younger people nearby and told them to step back to make room for Han Li, the divine doctor, to examine.
Seeing the space cleared, Han Li calmly stepped forward to observe carefully.
After about half an incense stick’s time had passed, Han Li confirmed that it was not a resurgence of the dark aura. It was just that the poison could not be completely eradicated and still lingered faintly on the face.
After reaching his conclusion, Han Li cast a sideways glance at Zhang Xiu’er, feeling that the girl was overreacting.
No one noticed Han Li’s somewhat reproachful look, but Li Feiyu, who had been watching Zhang Xiu’er closely, caught it. He shot a glare at Han Li, evidently offended that Han Li had insulted the woman he admired.
Han Li was speechless. It seemed that Li Feiyu, caught in the throes of love, valued romance over friendship.
He decided not to waste time arguing with this simple-minded fellow and focused back on Elder Li’s condition.
Besides the dark aura on his face not being entirely cleared, the poisonous spots on Elder Li’s body, which were about the size of a soybean, had ceased shrinking and remained unchanged. Because the residual poison had not been eliminated, Elder Li remained unconscious.
Seeing this, Han Li knew it was time to use the backup method he had prepared. He no longer needed to worry about covering up his earlier words and could demonstrate his foresight.
“Get a basin filled with clean water,” Han Li commanded in an unyielding tone.
This task was not given to Zhang Xiu’er this time; Ma Rong quickly volunteered and ran out to fetch it.
Han Li then turned solemnly to Elder Qian and Sect Master Ma and said,
“I will need both of you to help. Use your internal force to push the residual poison in Elder Li’s body to several specific acupoints. Then I will use the golden needle bloodletting detoxification method to release the poisonous blood. Are you both able to do this?”
Sect Master Ma’s eyes flickered uncertainly but he agreed. Elder Qian nodded coldly and accepted without hesitation.
“Why ask those two? Am I not capable?” Elder Zhao frowned, feeling Han Li was underestimating him.
Han Li sighed softly, knowing he had to explain to this stubborn old man.
“Elder Zhao, the Hun Yuan Palm you practice mainly focuses on external martial arts. In terms of the purity of internal force, I still think Sect Master Ma and Elder Qian are more suitable,” Han Li said calmly and kindly.
“Um...” The other party was at a loss for words, caught off guard by Han Li’s gentle refusal.
Han Li ignored Elder Zhao’s sulky mood and gave orders to the others in the room,
“Except for Sect Master Ma and Elder Qian, everyone else should leave for now. The detoxification procedure is not suitable for others to watch, and the treatment requires absolute quiet, with no disturbances.”
His words stunned everyone, but Madam Li was the first to understand. She bowed deeply and said, “My husband will be in your care,” then tactfully stepped out first.
