Chapter 714: Seeing Through and Ambush

The Sunset Hall was a place reserved only for cultivators who had served as elders of the Moon Veil Sect throughout its history. Not only was it built at a location with a spiritual eye, but the hall was also heavily protected by numerous seals. Without the permission of a grand elder, no one except a handful of elders could approach it at will.

At this moment, a reddish beam of light about a foot long shot from afar and circled a few times outside the Sunset Hall’s seals. Then, with a soft “zzzz” sound, it slipped inside the hall without any obstruction.

The red light passed through several layers of faint seals, made a few turns, and finally flew into a side chamber.

Inside, a beautiful woman was sitting cross-legged on a meditation cushion, eyes closed. Her skin was snow-white and cold, and she appeared to be in her early twenties. A faint aura of chilling coldness emanated from her.

The red light quickly flew before her face. The woman seemed to sense it and slowly opened her eyes. Frowning, she beckoned the red light with a hand.

Instantly, the red light condensed into a fist-sized ball of fire and landed directly in her palm.

The cold woman stared at the flame expressionlessly and silently, then suddenly flipped her hand. The fireball instantly extinguished.

“What is this girl playing at, actively wanting to see me? But since her tone has softened, it wouldn’t hurt to go take a look,” the woman murmured to herself.

Clearly a decisive person, the woman immediately transformed into a white streak of light and hastily flew out. Moments later, she exited the Sunset Hall and headed in a certain direction.

Before long, she arrived at Nangong Wan’s secluded mansion. Gathering her light, she descended from her escape technique.

She briefly scanned the surroundings—everything appeared normal. The sealing magic formations outside the mansion were still incomplete, showing no abnormalities.

Only then did she relax, walking directly to the mansion’s front gate. Raising her hand, she struck a white spell formation onto the stone gate, causing it to open on its own.

The pale woman did not hesitate. Calm and unhurried, she stepped inside.

“Greetings, Grandmaster?” Someone had been waiting just inside the stone gate for some time. Upon seeing the woman enter, she immediately bowed deeply. Judging by her appearance and figure, this was the yellow-robed girl.

“Your cultivation base seems to have improved since the last time we met. It seems the pills I gave you were taken,” the cold woman said casually as she glanced at the yellow-robed girl, then walked slowly deeper into the mansion.

“Thank you for the pills, Grandmaster! Otherwise, I wouldn’t have advanced so quickly,” the yellow-robed girl lowered her head modestly and replied respectfully.

“Good to hear. Nangong junior sister is still safe inside the mansion. No strange behavior, right?” the woman asked.

“No. Besides meeting a disciple today, Nangong Grandmaster has made no other moves,” the girl answered meticulously.

“I heard about this from Senior Uncle Lan’s transmission talisman. That disciple seemed to have delivered some gift. He should have left by now, right?”

“That disciple was only a low-level steward in the sect and left half a day ago. But after receiving the gift, Nangong Grandmaster seemed somewhat displeased,” the girl continued respectfully.

“Oh? What kind of gift would upset your senior uncle?” The woman’s expression shifted in surprise.

“Nothing much, just a Silver Sword magical artifact. However, Nangong Grandmaster appeared quite unsettled upon seeing it,” the yellow-robed girl lowered her head further but spoke clearly.

“Probably a rogue cultivator Nangong junior sister befriended during her travels. That’s quite normal,” the cold woman said, initially startled but then showing a trace of surprise after some thought.

“Exactly! After receiving the Silver Sword, Nangong Grandmaster thought it over alone for a while before suddenly sending a transmission talisman to summon you,” the girl added.
