Chapter 692: Reunion Again

Although this time he didn’t leave behind the other party’s nascent soul, the elder’s body was destroyed. Without several decades’ time, there was no hope of recovering his vital energy.

Moreover, once he returned, he would have to body-snatch. But suitable bodies were not so easy to find, and whether he could find one in time was anyone’s guess.

If, out of desperation, he picked a random body, his cultivation base would definitely drop dramatically.

However, he had gotten two ancient treasures out of thin air and a storage pouch left behind. This was quite a haul. Even though he hadn’t found any other treasures in Master Cangkun’s secluded mansion, the adventure to the Mu Lan Prairie hadn’t been in vain.

Thinking this, Han Li glanced at the place where the elder’s body had dissolved into nothingness. A faint silver storage pouch floated there.

Han Li’s expression remained unchanged as he reached into the void, drawing the storage pouch into his hand. Without hesitation, his spiritual awareness immersed inside to take a quick scan.

The result was a huge disappointment!

Inside, aside from a dozen or so mid-grade spirit stones, the rest were just some common refining materials and a few bottles of pills.

Opening the pill bottles, Han Li found they were all ordinary pills with nothing special. It seemed that the Mu Lan Prairie was indeed severely lacking in cultivation resources. For a nascent soul spellmaster, there was hardly anything valuable on him.

The thing Han Li most hoped to find, Jade Slips or the like, were completely absent from the storage pouch. This puzzled Han Li and made him sigh softly.

He had hoped to obtain some spell formations for spiritual techniques to see if there was a secret to instantly casting powerful spells. But it seemed that was impossible in the short term.

Tucking away the storage pouch casually, Han Li lifted his head and fixed his gaze intently on the distant Great Peak.

Though the original owner of this treasure, Elder Mu, had escaped with his nascent soul out-of-body, the black mountain peak remained unchanged in size, its surface flashing with spiritual light.

Han Li squinted slightly and gave a gentle summon to the treasure. The ownerless ancient treasure flickered with light, rapidly shrinking before flying straight into Han Li’s hand.

By the time it reached him, it had transformed back into a palm-sized miniature mountain.

Curious, Han Li weighed the little mountain in his hand. It wasn’t very heavy. Then, gripping the ancient treasure with one hand, he inspected it carefully several times.

At the bottom of the black mini mountain were three faint golden characters engraved.

“Thousand Layer Peak,” Han Li muttered to himself, a hint of satisfaction appearing in his eyes.

After storing the mountain away, Han Li glanced once more at the wind-riding wheel and took it as well.

He looked a few times at the spot where the elder’s nascent soul had disappeared, then after a moment’s thought, changed direction and dashed off through the void to one side.

Before long, Han Li’s figure vanished from the nearby sky, leaving no trace.

…

Three days later, in a place on the Mu Lan Prairie where several hills connected, there was nothing but wild grass about a person’s height—no sign of any living soul. It was extremely quiet!

But before long, azure light flickered at the horizon. An azure rainbow shot from afar toward this place.

After a moment, the azure rainbow flew above the hills. Circling once, the azure light retracted, revealing Han Li’s figure hovering high in the air.

He glanced down twice, then frowned slightly. Suddenly, he flicked his long sleeve, snapping his fingers at the cuff.

Several streams of azure light shot straight toward a certain hill below, as fast as meteors chasing the moon.

When they were about twenty or thirty zhang above the hill’s surface, the azure light exploded. A faint, almost imperceptible pale white light shield appeared out of thin air below.
