Chapter 656: Members of the Soul Shattering Sect
“How is it? You recognize me?” Han Li’s eyes flashed with a strange light as he gazed coolly at the elder in black robes and asked.
“No, I must have mistaken you for someone else. How could a junior like me possibly recognize a senior like you!” The elder in black, chilled by Han Li’s icy gaze, shivered nervously and stammered a quick denial.
“Mistaken identity!” Han Li said ambiguously, stroking his chin as he shifted his gaze away from the elder and instead scanned the other men present, as if truly believing the elder’s words.
The grey-robed man looked at the elder with some puzzlement. Although he was also surprised, the dangerous situation left no time for other concerns. He only wished to say some flattering words to Han Li and seize the opportunity to slip away.
Before he could speak again, Han Li gradually said: “Since you are cultivators of the Ghost Spirit Sect and have found my trail, consider yourselves unlucky. I will take your lives!”
As these words left his mouth, Han Li’s expression turned cold and grim. With a flick of his long sleeve, more than ten azure sword lights surged forth from his sleeve. As soon as they emerged, they flickered in the wind and multiplied into thirty or forty sword lights, sweeping relentlessly toward the few men before him.
Hearing the coldness in Han Li’s voice, the grey-robed cultivator knew things had turned for the worse. Seeing Han Li’s overwhelming attack, his face drained of all color.
Naturally, he would not surrender without a fight. Without hesitation, he spun swiftly as countless black energy bursts forth, shrouding his body for protection. Then, two flying forks—one golden and one silver—flew out from the black energy, transforming into two giant golden and silver pythons that blocked the sword lights.
At the same time, the grey-robed cultivator desperately activated a fleeing technique, becoming a black smoke as he fled quickly backward, no longer worrying about the fate of the black-robed elder and the other cultivators.
The Ghost Spirit Sect cultivators were shocked. Except for the elder, the rest were cut down by the sweeping azure sword qi with no chance of resistance; their heads severed and bodies fallen.
At that moment, the elder was terrified, but before he could react, Han Li flicked his finger, sending a slender azure thread mixed in the sword qi that instantly pierced into the elder’s body. The elder immediately collapsed onto the ground.
Seeing this, Han Li no longer paid attention to the elder. His gaze shifted to the grey-robed cultivator who had fled over a hundred zhang away, a cold smile creeping across his lips.
With calm ease, he pointed towards the sword lights. Instantly, over a hundred azure lights converged and condensed into a giant azure greatsword. Then Han Li softly uttered, “Go.”
The greatsword emitted a deep humming sound, trembling and transforming into a ten-zhang-long azure rainbow that, at an incredible fleeing speed, instantly caught up to the black smoke. Blinding azure radiance exploded outward.
The grey-robed cultivator screamed in agony. Whether the golden and silver giant pythons formed from the flying forks or the protective black energy formed by cultivation techniques, all were obliterated by the greatsword’s strike. Even the grey-robed cultivator himself was turned into a bloody rain that filled the sky.
Only then did Han Li calmly recall his magical treasure. His gaze darkened as he turned back to the unconscious elder.
After a moment of thought, Han Li raised one hand without hesitation. The elder’s withered body was sucked into his palm with a “swoosh,” azure light flickering. His other hand ruthlessly pressed down on the elder’s head.
After the time it takes for a tea to steep, Han Li’s palm burst into flames, and the elder turned into a cloud of flying ash, vanishing into thin air.
“So it’s a discarded disciple of the Heartsong Sect. Dong Xuan’er! I didn’t expect she had already formed a golden core. But why she would send someone to look for me is rather strange,” Han Li said as he floated in the air, hands clasped behind his back, a trace of surprise on his face.
