Chapter 614: Departure and Return
“Alright, we’ll do as Brother Han said. But what do you plan to do with that corpse ghoul, fellow cultivator?” the White Fox transmitted with spiritual energy to Han Li.
“I’ll first try to use the golddevourer worms to see if they can consume it. If not, it doesn’t matter. Let this monster fend for itself. Besides, I’ve taken the jade box that might contain its main soul. It won’t be able to cause much trouble now,” Han Li glanced at the corpse ghoul covered in green fur and said dismissively.
Then he slapped his waist with one hand, summoning a spiritual beast pouch into the air.
Countless golddevourer worms swarmed out, transforming into a cloud of tricolor worms several dozen feet in size, and landed on the corpse ghoul.
Then the sound of gnawing rose sharply, but Han Li watched coldly for a moment before seeing some of the golddevourer worms suddenly flip over and die one after another, their tricolor shells instantly turning jade green.
“What a powerful corpse poison!” Han Li murmured with a slight change in expression.
After hesitating for a moment, he softly chanted a few words, and all the flying worms took off again, returning to the spiritual beast pouch.
“The corpse poison on that corpse ghoul, while not among the ten deadliest poisons in the world, is definitely something your undeveloped golddevourer worms can’t resist,” the White Fox said, rolling her eyes.
Han Li snorted, gave the corpse ghoul a cold look, and furrowed his brow.
This monster’s body was tough — probably far stronger than the poisonous flood dragon from before.
The worms had only bitten through a tiny part of its skin. Judging by this method of gnawing, he’d probably have to sacrifice eight or nine-tenths of the tricolor golddevourer worms to completely destroy this creature’s flesh. Naturally, Han Li wouldn’t make such a losing trade.
“Let’s go,” Han Li said without further hesitation.
“That’s all we can do! Leaving this corpse ghoul behind might still be useful someday,” the White Fox nodded. Then with a flash of strange light, she split off a yellow little wolf from her body.
As soon as the little wolf appeared, it opened its mouth toward Han Li and the White Fox, enveloping them in a yellow light. Suddenly, the man and the fox vanished from the stone chamber.
...
Outside the cliff, Senior Brother Wang and Kui Huan stood anxiously.
None of them knew any earth release technique, so they could only wait for Han Li’s return here.
“Senior Brother, do you think Junior Brother Han succeeded?” Kui Huan asked impatiently.
The other two also turned with concern. Clearly, they all trusted Senior Brother Wang’s judgment.
“It’s hard to say. Normally, with Junior Brother Han’s tenth layer of the qi refining stage cultivation base, it would be difficult to catch that demonic fox. But he has quite a few marvelous magical artifacts on him; he might surprise us. Whatever the outcome, it wouldn’t be too surprising,” Senior Brother Wang said thoughtfully with a bitter smile.
The three exchanged glances.
The short, stocky youth sighed and waved his injured palm, looking like he wanted to say something.
Just then, the mountain wall suddenly flashed with light. Amid the yellow blades of light, Han Li appeared, carrying the little fox.
“Junior Brother Han!”
“You really caught that little thing!”
...
They all cheered and surrounded him, chattering excitedly, their faces full of joy.
“Not much. This demonic fox was quite cunning, running in circles inside. If it hadn’t exhausted its spiritual power, I wouldn’t have caught it so quickly,” Han Li said with a faint smile. He lifted the White Fox in his hand and tossed her to Kui Huan diagonally across.
Kui Huan was startled but quickly caught her happily.
“Junior Brother Kui, be careful. Don’t let it escape again!” the short, stocky youth warned anxiously.
“Don’t worry! I know what I’m doing,” Kui Huan said confidently as he pulled the White Fox near and quickly stuffed her into a jade green leather pouch.
