Chapter 610: Fox Transformation
Thinking about the rumors that the corpse ghoul’s body is impervious to damage, only able to be slowly refined by True Fire or sealed with the Soul Extraction Technique, Han Li couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on.
The corpse ghoul in front of him obviously hadn’t truly died. It was just temporarily restrained by an unknown golden talisman. It would definitely take a long time for the corpse ghoul to fully restore its vital energy.
With that thought, Han Li’s gaze shifted to the jade box that had fallen beside the corpse ghoul. A trace of suspicion flashed through his eyes.
Since the corpse ghoul was sealed here without being turned to ash, it must have been sealed through soul extraction.
Judging by how anxious the corpse ghoul was about that jade box and how it was sealed with a golden talisman specifically designed to restrain it, that must have been the corpse ghoul’s vital essence.
But if that were the case, why could the corpse ghoul’s physical body still move freely and speak to him, even showing such high intelligence as to try and coax him into opening the jade box? Could it be that the soul extraction was not complete and some remnant soul remained inside the body?
And why would the corpse ghoul have such a supreme treasure as the Spirit Eye Jade on its person? Was it only obtained after being trapped here?
These questions made Han Li furrow his brow, leaving him full of puzzlement.
But after some thought, he decided to stop dwelling on these unanswerable questions and began scanning the surroundings, preparing to find a way out.
To refine the corpse ghoul with True Fire, one would need at least a nascent soul stage cultivation base and months of sustained refining time, which was impractical.
Even if Han Li had that cultivation, he wouldn’t waste his time performing such demon-slaying tasks.
What he needed to do was leave this place as far away as possible, letting the corpse ghoul remain trapped and lonely here.
As for whether others might stumble into this place later and be deceived by it—that was none of his concern.
After all, if the corpse ghoul escaped, many experts from major sects would handle the matter.
After his gaze circled the area, Han Li returned his attention to the jade box.
After glancing at the golden talisman a few times, he hesitated briefly before suddenly reaching out and drawing the jade box into his hand. Without changing his expression, he stored it inside his storage pouch.
The runes on the golden talisman were incredibly strange. He intended to take it back and study it carefully.
Whether or not he would open the box would depend on when he reached perfected nascent soul and felt completely safe.
If there was truly the vital essence of the corpse ghoul or other fierce spirits inside, he wasn’t afraid at all with the evil-repelling divine thunder, wailing soul beasts to counter them, and the cultivation base he’d have then.
Han Li shook the Jade Ruyi Scepter in his hand, and the light shield on his body suddenly disappeared. The yellow little wolf sprang out.
He was preparing to use the earth release technique to escape this stone chamber.
After all, no matter how hard and rare the lapis lazuli was, it should still be considered earth and stone, so it shouldn’t be able to resist the earth release technique.
Having made up his mind, he was about to command the little wolf artifact spirit when his expression suddenly changed. He turned back and stared at the motionless corpse ghoul.
Tilting his head and thinking for a moment, he sighed and took a few steps to the corpse ghoul’s side, then raised his foot and kicked.
The corpse ghoul’s body flipped, revealing an inconspicuous hollow.
Inside that hollow, the snow cloud fox was staring up at Han Li with dark, pitiful eyes.
Han Li smiled slightly and murmured, “You’re clever, quite good at finding a place to hide.”
After saying this, Han Li waved his hand, and a wave of azure light swept toward the little fox.
