Chapter 603: Snow Cloud Fox

As Han Li was appraising the man’s appearance, the man cheerfully walked into the medicine garden and enthusiastically greeted him:

“Junior brother, you must also be a disciple of Heaven Spring Peak. I see your face is quite unfamiliar—could it be that you just joined last year? If so, I can count myself as a genuine senior brother.”

“My surname is Han. Indeed, I only joined about a year ago. Senior brother, you must be a top disciple of Hidden Sword Peak!” Han Li withdrew his gaze and smiled as he spoke.

“So it’s Junior Brother Han! I am Kui Huan from Hidden Sword Peak. Along with a few senior brothers, I’m in charge of a nearby spiritual beast enclosure located in a small basin several dozen miles away. If you have a chance, you can come take a look. Although my cultivation base isn’t very high, I have been a disciple for seven or eight years. I know about all the affairs of Luoyun Sect and all the brothers and sisters on each peak. If you have any questions in the future, just ask me.” The man had an air of friendliness that was almost too casual.

Han Li smiled slightly.

The loquacious man before him reminded Han Li of the self-proclaimed know-it-all schemer from the seven mysteries sect back in the day. The same quick tongue, the same tactfulness!

Obviously, they were the same kind of person.

Amused, Han Li found no ill feelings towards this man.

“Thanks for your kindness, senior brother. But Kui, is there something urgent you came here for?” Han Li crossed his arms and blinked his eyes, asking.

Hearing this, Kui Huan showed a slightly embarrassed expression. After hesitating, he scratched his head and said:

“It’s not really urgent. I actually came to ask Senior Sister for help. But unexpectedly, Senior Sister Yuan, who managed this medicine garden for five or six years, just left without notice. This has made things a bit difficult.”

“Help?” Han Li frowned slightly, a hint of doubt in his eyes.

“Actually, it’s not much. You probably already know, as outer disciples we are not highly regarded within the sect due to our aptitude. If the sect distributes magical artifacts or pills, we don’t get a share. And the spirit stones we earn each year are not enough to buy pills to improve our cultivation base. So a few senior brothers and I have been catching a rare little animal called the ‘Snow Cloud Fox’ in the nearby Green Trace Swamp and selling them at the market. Although these little foxes aren’t demonic beasts, they are small, cute, and somewhat intelligent, which makes them very popular with the female disciples of the sect. This has allowed us to earn a little money.”

“But recently, we discovered a different kind of Snow Cloud Fox deep in the swamp. It had faint spiritual energy on its body and seemed to have evolved into a low-level demonic beast. Naturally, we were all very excited. If we could catch it alive, it could sell for over a hundred spirit stones — a rare big deal.”

“But unfortunately, we were too hasty and didn’t plan well, and the beast slipped away. Since then, it has hidden deep in the swamp and rarely shows itself. Although we searched much of the Green Trace Swamp and occasionally encountered it, whenever we approached, it would immediately dive into the mud and disappear.”

Kui Huan’s face was full of regret as he spoke.

Seeing Han Li’s thoughtful gaze, he paused briefly and continued:

“We observed it for some time and found that this mutant Snow Cloud Fox especially loves Solomon’s Seal that has been grown for over ten years. We figured that to lure it out, we’d need Solomon’s Seal that had been cultivated for at least fifty years. Only then would it jump into a trap without hesitation. But as you know, grass that old costs much more than just a few or a dozen spirit stones. We had some savings, but recently used them all to buy a pill to advance cultivation, so we don’t have extra spirit stones now.”
