Chapter 598: Entry (Part 3)
Han Li and the others naturally had no objections. The young man surnamed Yu immediately activated the giant bowl beneath his feet and headed straight toward the distant "Heaven Spring Peak."
Along the way, their group encountered several passing cultivators, mostly low-stage cultivators in the qi refining stage. Upon seeing the young man, they respectfully saluted and greeted him, as if the youth held considerable reputation within the Luoyun Sect.
The only foundation establishment stage cultivator they met was a sharp-eared, monkey-faced man wearing a yellow robe.
He was just flying down from Heaven Spring Peak, riding a flying fork. When he saw the young man surnamed Yu, he was momentarily stunned but quickly forced a broad smile and greeted him warmly.
"Junior Brother Yu, are these the newly admitted disciples? Looks like there aren't many this time!"
This man was extremely enthusiastic toward the youth but didn’t even glance at Han Li and the other rogue cultivators, carrying himself with an extremely petty demeanor.
"So it’s Senior Brother Yan! These people still need to go through the Heart Inquiry Technique test. Only after reporting to the sect leader can they be considered official disciples of our sect. Right now, they’re just candidates," the spirited young man surnamed Yu answered lightly, frowning unconsciously upon seeing the yellow-robed cultivator.
"I see. But Junior Brother, you know I am short of two talisman-making disciples. How about selecting two from these people to join my team?" The yellow-robed cultivator’s eyes flicked around before he smiled slyly.
At this moment, his gaze fell upon the group behind the youth, appraising them.
Han Li kept a calm expression but felt somewhat uncomfortable inside.
This man’s gaze disgusted him; he treated them like mere tools. Judging by his tone, it seemed he truly intended to use them as laborers.
The other rogue cultivators’ expressions changed slightly, clearly sharing a similar low opinion of the man.
"Senior Brother Yan, I am not in a position to decide this. You know that the distribution of disciples is always handled by the sect leader. If you feel short of talisman-making disciples, you should apply to the sect leader. I still have urgent matters to attend to, and Senior Brother Miao is waiting for us at the Pine Welcome Residence. I won’t keep you long," the young man surnamed Yu, quite familiar with Senior Brother Yan’s temperament, promptly refused his excessive request.
He then found an excuse, spurred the magical artifact beneath his feet, and quickly flew with Han Li and the others toward a pavilion down the mountain.
The yellow-robed cultivator intended to persist in his demands, but upon hearing the words "Senior Brother Miao," hesitation flickered across his face. Startled, he allowed the youth to leave without further objection.
Watching the group’s figures enter the distant pavilion, the yellow-robed cultivator’s expression remained unsettled.
He pondered for a moment, then suddenly snorted coldly, transforming into a streak of yellow light as he flew toward another mountain peak.
By now, the young man had led Han Li and the others into the first floor of the pavilion, where an unfamiliar figure appeared.
Han Li was somewhat surprised upon seeing the gaunt young man sitting on a sandalwood grand armchair, engrossed in reading a roll of bamboo slips.
This person appeared to be only thirty-four or thirty-five years old but had already reached the late foundation establishment stage.
Although just entering the late stage and not yet fully consolidated, he was undeniably a rare prodigy. Given his age, he had a good chance of forming a golden core and entering the core formation stage. No wonder the annoying yellow-robed cultivator dared not continue to pester him upon hearing his name.
The other cultivators who came along were equally shocked by the gaunt youth’s astonishing cultivation base, exchanging glances in amazement.
