Chapter 583: An Eye for an Eye
Han Li was first stunned when he heard this, then found himself both crying and laughing at the same time.
He finally understood why the middle-aged man surnamed Feng was unfriendly toward him. It turned out the man had taken a fancy to Mei Ning, this lovely beauty, and seeing Han Li arrive here with her, he must have mistaken their relationship for something intimate.
But it was hard to blame him. Perhaps due to the local environment, the women here, though not utterly ugly, all had rough, dark skin. No matter how well-proportioned their features were, they were far from attractive.
So it was no wonder that Elder Feng’s heart stirred the moment he saw Mei Ning.
After all, with Mei Ning’s elegant beauty, even if she wasn’t at the destructive level of a Yuan Yao or Zi Ling, she was still a rare beauty.
On top of that, after years of cultivation, she carried an aura gathered from spiritual essence that ordinary mortals lacked, making her all the more enchanting.
“Sir, what you just said, I’ll pretend I never heard it. I am a cultivator and will not marry a mortal. Please leave immediately,” Mei Ning said coldly, unexpectedly firm and unyielding without Han Li by her side.
“Hmph! Miss Mei, I’m afraid you still don’t understand the situation. This is the land of darkness and shadows. Your cultivator status means nothing to me. Maybe ordinary people respect cultivators like you, but without the Dark Shadow Beast Crystals, you’re no more noble than commoners in my eyes. Do you really think your companion here can stand against me? With my martial arts mastery that dominates the entire Western Extreme Sea, if I wanted to kill him, who in the village could stop me?” The middle-aged man surnamed Feng grew angry and threatening, his tone suddenly darkening.
“You dare threaten me?” Mei Ning’s voice trembled with fury, clearly never expecting a mortal to be so bold.
“Why not? I can even…”
“What are you going to do…?”
Before he could finish, a terrified scream from Mei Ning suddenly echoed through the room.
Han Li rubbed his nose, bitterly smiling to himself.
Though Mei Ning and he had no real connection, they always came here together as fellow cultivators. To just stand by and do nothing felt too cold-blooded and heartless.
With that thought, Han Li’s bitter smile instantly transformed into a cold sneer.
With a loud bang, before Mei Ning could scream again, Han Li kicked open the door and calmly walked inside.
Inside, the middle-aged man surnamed Feng was cornering Mei Ning, a sinister grin on his face as he approached. Hearing the loud noise, he froze and turned around.
Seeing Han Li enter, his eyes flickered with suspicion, but his expression quickly darkened.
Mei Ning, pale and frightened, immediately rushed out from the corner and hid behind Han Li.
“Brother Han, be careful. This man seems to want to harm you!” she warned as she regained some composure.
“Don’t worry. I overheard some of your conversation inside,” Han Li replied coldly without turning his head.
“When did you come back? Why didn’t I hear anything?” The middle-aged man glared coldly at Han Li, not even bothering to call him by name.
He was confident in his internal force; within a dozen meters, even the sound of falling leaves could be heard. Yet Han Li stood silently outside the door, which puzzled him.
“It seems you’re very confident in your martial arts. But fixing your sights on me is a bit foolish,” Han Li said lazily, glancing back at him with casual ease.
“Foolish? It’s been a long time since anyone called me that. In return, I’ll break one of your arms as a lesson,” the man sneered, eyes flashing with cruelty.
Without hesitation, he moved like a powerful crossbow bolt toward Han Li, his right hand suddenly expanding by three sizes, accompanied by a fierce gust, aiming to grab Han Li’s right arm with crushing force.
Judging by his stance, he truly intended to snap Han Li’s arm in one grab.
