Chapter 578: High Wall Village

“This time, I don’t know whether to say you’re unlucky or lucky. You’ve actually encountered the once-in-a-century eruption of the aura of absolute spirit extinction! This has made the spatial rift much larger than usual. No matter how capable the people caught in it are, there’s nowhere to run. But because of this, most of the yin beasts that usually stay within the mountain’s depths have left this area. Otherwise, as soon as you fell in, you’d have been completely devoured,” the lean man said calmly as he looked back at the two of them.

Han Li’s heart sank slightly at these words. But on the surface, he maintained his composure and asked, “Please forgive my presumptuousness! Could you tell us exactly where this place is? Judging by your tone, it seems quite dangerous here.”

“Dangerous? Heh heh! ‘Dangerous’ doesn’t even begin to describe it. I don’t care what you two were doing outside or what extraordinary mortal identities you once had. In this land of darkness and shadows, there’s no room for freeloaders. Anyone who can move has to do their part. Otherwise, they’re just food for the yin beasts,” the man said with a cold sneer as he re-examined their clothes, clearly seeing that he and the woman were no ordinary people.

Han Li furrowed his brow. Just as he was about to ask more questions, the man waved his hand impatiently and said, “These are extraordinary times; I don’t have time to explain things to two outsiders. We’ll talk more once we get back to the village. Soon, a large group of yin beasts will return to their lair. Quickly block this secret exit. Save it for future use.”

At his command, the men and women nearby each picked up some stones and hastily but efficiently sealed the exit tight.

“Let’s go. If all goes well, Ah Hu and the others should meet us halfway. If we don’t leave now, once the dark wind blows, there’ll be no going back,” the lean man said, looking up at the dark clouds in the sky, his expression grim.

Then he turned and started walking. The others followed silently, not even greeting Han Li and the woman.

Seeing this, a strange light flickered in Han Li’s eyes as he revealed a trace of thoughtful hesitation.

“Should we follow them?” The beautiful woman accompanying Han Li, noticing the group gradually moving away while Han Li stood rooted, lost in thought, nervously asked.

Without magical power, the woman was nothing more than a helpless, disoriented fragile person. Naturally, she regarded the always calm Han Li as someone dependable.

“We have to go. Why wouldn’t we? Let’s first see this so-called village. Maybe there we can find a way to regain our magical power,” Han Li said calmly, lifting his head. Then, without further hesitation, he strode forward toward the figures ahead.

The woman relaxed and quickly followed behind him.

“Oh, by the way, I don’t even know your name. I am Han, a rogue cultivator,” Han Li said casually as they walked.

“My name is Mei Ning. I came with my elder brother. We were both sucked into the ghost mist together, so why isn’t he here?” The gentle woman was one of the Mei siblings. When she mentioned her brother, a hint of worry appeared on her face.

“That’s quite normal. Those black lightning bolts clearly have random teleportation abilities. We were transmitted into the mountain’s depths, but your brother might have been sent somewhere else. Otherwise, with so many cultivators present, it wouldn’t make sense for only you and me to be sent here. We’ll find him eventually and reunite,” Han Li replied without changing his expression.

Upon hearing this, the woman felt much reassured but her curiosity about Han Li deepened.

His face was ordinary and unfamiliar. She was certain she had never seen him before. Could he be a cultivator who entered this small island from another direction? She speculated with some puzzlement.

Full of questions, she wanted to ask Han Li more but, feeling they were not that close, hesitated and stayed silent.
