Chapter 568: Powerful Enemy

“Stop!”

A man's command rang out from inside the carriage, and immediately the Beast Carriage and the light-speed escape halted mid-air.

Then, as the red radiance dimmed, a group of stunningly beautiful young women appeared. They were all dressed uniformly in pale green palace garments, their black hair styled in updos, each with twin swords strapped to their backs.

These female cultivators stood neatly on either side of the Beast Carriage, heads bowed solemnly, each possessing foundation establishment stage cultivation base.

“Strange! How could someone here be casting a heaven-defying spell? Judging from the gathering yin energy, it’s either the yang restoration technique or the soul restoration technique,” came a surprised voice from within the white light-shielded Beast Carriage, even naming the soul restoration technique outright.

“This heavenly phenomenon is so extraordinary; why can’t it be a heavenly omen signaling the appearance of an exotic treasure?” a young woman’s voice soon responded, cold and indifferent, but unable to hide its sweet and alluring tone.

“Hehe! Do you think I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the appearance of an exotic treasure and a heaven-defying spell?” the man sounded very confident as he chuckled lightly.

“Hmph! That's just your one-sided opinion. Maybe it really is a sign of a treasure manifesting. Anyway, I can’t tell the difference between the two,” the woman replied coldly after a brief silence, showing no kindness.

“If you want to know for sure, why not go take a look? Whether it’s the yang restoration or soul restoration technique, only cultivators at foundation formation stage or above can perform them. And after casting, their cultivation base usually suffers a great setback—dropping an entire realm is common. I’m a bit curious too, want to see who’s performing this technique. If their cultivation is decent, I might as well take them on as well. The Divine Dove Hall could still use a few law enforcers!” The man pampered the woman unusually, not angry at her doubt but instead going along with her tone.

“Alright! We’ve been flying in the Beast Carriage for nearly a month; I’m a bit restless. It’s just right to come ashore on the island and relax a bit,” the woman hesitated, then agreed.

“Wait a moment; I’ll withdraw the shield now!”

With that, the white light on the carriage flashed and slowly dissipated, revealing the two people inside.

Indeed, inside the Beast Carriage sat a man and a woman at opposite ends.

The man was a barefoot youth in hemp clothing, wearing a tall crown, about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, handsome and refined, with a golden light flickering between his brows. It was unclear what cultivation technique he practiced.

Beside him sat a girl about sixteen or seventeen years old.

She wore a white gauze robe, her skin smooth and jade-like, black hair like satin cascading over her shoulders, her beauty peerless and extraordinary. However, her complexion was somewhat pale, lacking a flush of color, making her look like an immortal untouched by worldly fire, ethereal and dreamlike.

The girl leaned against a corner of the Beast Carriage, her delicate brows slightly furrowed, seeming displeased. But once the light shield was withdrawn, her expression shifted; she stood gracefully and stepped down from the carriage.

The man watched her movements gently, and seeing this, he smiled faintly and followed her off the carriage.

“Fellow cultivator Wen, how confident are you about the ghost mist appearing nearby? From what I know, as the most mysterious natural disaster in the Chaotic Star Sea, the ghost mist’s appearance has no discernible pattern in time or place,” the girl said without turning her head, her words unrelated to the current scene.

The man seemed used to it and replied with a smile, hands clasped behind his back:

“Indeed, the ghost mist has no accurate pattern, but after considerable effort collecting detailed records of its appearances over hundreds of years, I found something interesting. Of the places the ghost mist appears, a portion coincides with recent volcanic eruptions nearby. Although not every time, at least one-third matches this pattern. And this sea area just recently had two underwater volcanoes erupt in succession. The chance of ghost mist appearing should be quite high.”
