Chapter 55: The Third Person

"Your thoughts are far too lively. If they were free to roam, then I would be the one having a headache," Doctor Mo said calmly and unhurriedly. Then, he stretched out an arm and effortlessly lifted Han Li up, taking a step and walking out of the room.

Outside, the scorching sun still blazed fiercely. Han Li felt as if he had been inside the house for a long time, but in reality, only a very short while had passed.

Doctor Mo carried Han Li as if he were holding an object, casually passing through the medicinal garden beside the house, and arrived in front of a remote stone wall. The burly man silently followed closely behind him, like his shadow, never leaving his side.

Through his eyes, Han Li clearly saw that before him stood a stone house he had never seen before. It resembled the stone chamber he had used for meditation in the past, entirely built from stone blocks, with the only difference being that the outer walls had been simply whitewashed with lime water.

Judging from the materials used, although the construction was rather rough, it was obvious it had been recently completed. If Han Li still had a sense of smell, he would probably detect the sharp scent of lime water.

"Iron Slave, stay outside. If any strangers approach this house, kill on sight," Doctor Mo issued a bloody order, clearly fearing an unexpected interruption that would ruin his plans.

The stone door was easily pushed open. Without hesitation, Doctor Mo entered and naturally closed the stone door behind him. It was evident that Doctor Mo was very familiar with this house—there was an eighty percent chance he had built it himself.

The stone house was sealed, with no windows at all. After the door was shut, Han Li expected it to be pitch black inside, with nothing visible. Yet he saw that the interior was filled with all kinds of oil lamps and candles of varying thicknesses. The relatively small space was brilliantly illuminated, with bright flames stacked together, lighting it up as brightly as daylight.

The scene inside left Han Li speechless. Of course, since he was trapped inside a body he couldn’t control, even if he had questions, he was unable to speak.

But none of that mattered. What unsettled Han Li the most was a strange pattern several yards wide painted in the center of the stone house. The pattern seemed to be applied using some kind of powder. Han Li couldn't get close enough to identify exactly what it was.

Around the edges of the pattern, several fist-sized pieces of green jade were embedded. The jade, under the candlelight, was crystal clear and visibly rare. Any expert who loved such treasures would lament seeing such fine jade degrading embedded in the stone floor—likely losing sleep over it for many nights.

While Han Li was quietly observing through his physical body, he suddenly heard a "thud" as his body was thrown into the very center of the pattern. He lay on his back on the ground, able to see only the ceiling.

A bit anxious, Han Li desperately wanted to see what Doctor Mo was doing at this critical moment, but he was powerless. Helpless, he comforted himself—at least he wasn’t facing downward, or he wouldn’t even be able to see the ceiling.

“Puff, puff, puff...”

A series of strange sounds echoed. Han Li was puzzled but soon noticed the light dimmed significantly. That’s when he realized Doctor Mo had extinguished many of the lamps and candles.

But what was the reason behind this?

After a short moment, Doctor Mo suddenly spoke.

"Do you really think your method will work? You should know I am risking everything," his voice was icy cold.

Han Li was confused. Was Doctor Mo speaking to him? But the tone didn’t seem right! Besides, there were only the two of them inside the stone house. Moreover, Doctor Mo wouldn’t have forgotten so quickly that Han Li was still sealed with the cursed yellow talisman and incapable of speech.

"Absolutely no problem. Was there ever any deceit in the 'seven ghosts devouring soul grand method' or the 'calming talisman' I taught you?" a strange male voice suddenly sounded in the room. Judging by the voice, he seemed young, only in his twenties.
