Chapter 54: Calming Talisman
“Han Li, you really know how to adapt and endure. But do you really think I’ll let you go?” Doctor Mo’s youthful face broke into a slight smile, radiating a brilliant sunshine-like charm that would drive any woman crazy. Yet, his voice startled Han Li once again.
His tone carried an indescribable magnetism, making anyone who heard it feel incredibly at ease—completely different from the dry bitterness he once had. It seemed that compared to his appearance, his voice was just as captivating.
For the first time, Doctor Mo directly addressed Han Li by name. Although the news wasn’t good, it gave Han Li a sense of recognition, far better than being called “kid” repeatedly. His frustration eased slightly.
Judging by his appearance alone, there was no flaw in Doctor Mo now. Every movement was elegant and refined—a true handsome man. He bore no trace of the old hag-like image he once had. No doubt, back in the day, this face had driven countless martial world heroines mad.
“What exactly do you want with me? Just say it clearly,” Han Li said. He was no woman; he wouldn’t be polite just because the other party was exceptionally handsome. Besides, Doctor Mo’s words showed no mercy, so there was no need to show any kindness.
“Want with you? Heh heh!” Doctor Mo stretched his newly revitalized limbs and lazily arched his long body, smiling silently. He didn’t answer Han Li’s question but instead pulled out something from his chest pocket.
This time, it was a small silk bundle folded neatly. The silk was blazing bright, dazzling in color, with every stitch exquisitely made—clearly not an ordinary item.
What could be inside this silk? Another strange artifact like the Silver Blade? Han Li forgot to ask further, his curiosity piqued.
Doctor Mo didn’t let Han Li guess for long. In a flash, he untied the silk bundle carefully and took out a crumpled piece of yellow paper.
Han Li looked slightly disappointed but felt a chill run through his heart, becoming completely alert. He knew that the more unremarkable something appeared, the more unimaginable its use might be. Since Doctor Mo had produced a piece of paper, it certainly wasn’t for a common purpose. Recalling the strange events earlier, Han Li suspected there was a hidden secret.
Doctor Mo delicately pinched the yellow paper with two fingers and smoothed it out. Han Li looked closely. The paper was small, about the size of a palm, cut into a long strip. Its color was old, showing the wear of many years.
Most striking were the silver symbols painted on it with shimmering silver ink. The shapes were strange, and Han Li had never seen anything like them before.
The moment his eyes caught the symbols, Han Li felt a mysterious force stir within him. Even his everlasting spring technique began to react uncontrollably, as if awakened by the symbols, leaving him utterly stunned.
Sensing something was wrong, Han Li focused intently on the symbols, trying to decipher their secrets.
The symbols twisted and turned, winding in odd directions, yet they seemed to conceal some cosmic order. Their arrangement and shapes held profound meaning. Unfortunately, time was too short, and Han Li couldn’t make sense of them quickly.
At that moment, Doctor Mo appeared right before Han Li. He saw Han Li’s strange, obsessed gaze fixed on the yellow paper and couldn’t help but reveal a fleeting look of pity before returning to his usual expression.
He lowered his head gently and whispered close to Han Li’s ear in a low voice:
“Han Li, don’t blame me. I have no choice. It’s time for you to reincarnate. This body, I’m taking it over.”
“What did you say? What do you mean by that?” Han Li was jolted awake from his trance by Doctor Mo’s words, shocked to the core. He vaguely sensed that the worst fate was about to befall him.
Ignoring the burly man behind him, Han Li began to struggle violently. He still had a few small items on him; if he could grab them, he might create a distraction and gain a chance to escape.
