Chapter 528: Qingling Sect

Apart from the slightly salty sea breeze gently blowing over the mountain, the surroundings were silent, which made the few people on the small hill feel even more at ease, boldly entering a meditative state with their eyes closed.

Time passed quickly. After an hour, most of their magical power had recovered, and their complexions looked much more normal.

The middle-aged cultivator opened his eyes, glanced at the men and women’s conditions, and then decisively ordered, “Let’s go. We can’t stay here any longer! Those things are probably close behind.”

After saying this, he stood up and led the way.

Although the qi refining stage men and women felt reluctant inside, they dared not hesitate. They ended their meditation, all taking out their magical artifacts as if ready to soar into the sky together.

But at this moment, piercing cries suddenly erupted from above the small island, and then thick milky white fog began to roll and boil.

“Not good!” The middle-aged cultivator’s face instantly changed.

The other men and women turned pale in an instant.

Out of the dense fog in the sky, more than a dozen huge gray monstrous birds suddenly shot out.

These monstrous birds were about a zhang in size, with red fleshy crests on their heads, sharp beaks and claws. Their bodies emitted a faint azure light, looking fierce and ugly.

After appearing, they didn’t immediately attack the island below but quickly circled in the air before scattering, blocking the escape routes of the cultivators. They seemed very skilled at coordination.

Seeing this scene, the middle-aged cultivator’s heart sank.

“Go, quickly to that forest. We’ll split up to escape when the chance comes!” He had some experience dealing with bird-type demonic beasts and immediately urged the others to swiftly escape toward the nearby forest.

The rest of the men and women, panicked and directionless, naturally did not resist and followed, activating their artifacts.

The strange birds from the Tianshan Mountains let out a noisy, shrill cry and slowly surrounded the group on all sides, descending from high above.

Seeing the behavior of these demonic birds, the men and women grew increasingly anxious and accelerated their escape speed. In the blink of an eye, they were above the forest and suddenly dropped down.

Then an unexpected scene occurred!

As the five of them flew into the low airspace about three zhangs above the forest, a flash of emerald glow suddenly lit up, causing their vision to brighten followed by dizziness. When the dizziness cleared, they found the scene before them had drastically changed.

The original forest was gone, replaced by an extremely unfamiliar mountain range with astonishing spiritual energy hitting them head-on.

“This is an Illusion Formation!” Among the three female cultivators, the one wearing blue brocade clothes and considered the most beautiful shouted in surprise.

“Could it be that there are other fellow cultivators here?” The burly young man said excitedly.

“Maybe! Regardless, this is our chance to survive. Hopefully this Illusion Formation can fool those eagle kite beasts!” The middle-aged man also felt surprised and muttered softly.

Hearing this, the others couldn’t help but look up at the formation’s sky.

At this moment, the vicious birds circling in the air suddenly lost their target and started to stir. After shrill cries to each other, they nonetheless continued descending slowly without changing direction.

“No good! It seems the eagle kite beasts are unaffected by these illusions. Hurry toward those mountains—there’s a restrictive aura there, maybe other fellow practitioners really are there.” The middle-aged cultivator said grimly, his light speed flickering as he flew forward.

The others exchanged glances and anxiously followed.

But after flying a short distance, they were suddenly blocked by a white light veil that hadn’t been there moments before.

Seeing this, the middle-aged cultivator was unexpectedly pleased.
