Chapter 524: Interrogation
Upon hearing Han Li’s words, the pigeon-faced elder and the other two couldn’t help but exchange glances, their faces filled with shock.
What was the purpose of this insect demon’s question? Could it be that before killing them, he wanted to toy with them a bit?
“Fellow cultivator, if you want to take our lives, just do it. Why say such things?” The burly man steeled his heart and spoke harshly, disregarding everything else.
“That’s strange. Was there something wrong with my question just now?” Han Li’s expression darkened, his demeanor turning cold all of a sudden.
“Our brothers truly did not know that you were here hunting demonic beasts. Otherwise, we would never dare disturb an elder insect demon,” the cultivator with the surname Min said, as if sensing a glimmer of hope from Han Li’s actions. His face regained some color as he pleaded bitterly, “We only accidentally stumbled here and had no ill intentions. We hope you will show restraint, elder.”
“Insect demon! Are you referring to me?” Han Li furrowed his brow slightly, a hint of doubt flashing across his face.
“Aren’t you the elder insect demon?” The pigeon-faced elder, who had initially resigned himself, muttered in surprise, his face showing signs of suspicion.
“It seems you three fellow cultivators have misunderstood something,” Han Li chuckled lightly. After hesitating for a moment, he raised his hand, and three azure spell formations shot toward the neck rings around the three men’s throats.
Immediately, the three-colored neck rings emitted a low hum before dissolving, transforming back into countless beetles that swarmed and flew into the spiritual beast pouch at Han Li’s waist.
Witnessing this, the pigeon-faced elder and his two companions, who had narrowly escaped death, were both shocked and overjoyed.
Though still extremely puzzled, they now mostly believed they might have mistaken Han Li for someone else.
Otherwise, given the reputation of that insect demon, he would never resort to such tricks.
However, after witnessing Han Li’s astonishing methods, they remained respectful and dared not act recklessly.
“Heh heh! It seems we really have misunderstood you, fellow cultivator. Given the temperament of that insect demon, he would never let us off so easily. May I ask your honorable name?” The pigeon-faced elder forced a smile and hurriedly asked with a forced cheerfulness.
He understood very well that even if this person was not the insect demon, his skills were certainly no weaker; taking their lives would be as easy as flipping a hand. Naturally, he dared not show any negligence.
Han Li smiled faintly, just about to reply when he suddenly uttered a soft “huh” and looked up into the sky.
“Do you three have any companions? They seem to have arrived,” Han Li said slowly, gazing at the sky.
The pigeon-faced elder was momentarily stunned but then looked up in the same direction, only to see nothing but emptiness. Confused, he frowned slightly.
“Our brothers indeed brought some disciples and nephews. They should be arriving soon,” the pigeon-faced elder replied cautiously, somewhat doubtful.
Just as he finished speaking, a string of light spots appeared in the sky—those were the trailing foundation establishment stage cultivators.
They were much slower than the three elders and had only just arrived on their magical artifacts.
Seeing this, the pigeon-faced elder’s expression changed slightly.
This indicated that their spiritual awareness was far superior to his, and his fear of Han Li increased by threefold.
“I am not fond of crowds. Fellow cultivators, you can arrange your disciples elsewhere. I will wait for you on the other side of the island. I have some questions to ask you, and I hope none of you will leave without saying goodbye,” Han Li squinted at the three and said meaningfully before smiling faintly and turning into an azure rainbow flying toward the other side of the island.
Only then did the pigeon-faced elder and the others breathe a sigh of relief.
