Chapter 502: The Might of the Ancient Treasure
Hearing these words, Han Li fell silent. His expression became unsettled, as if he was pondering something deeply.
The two Star Palace cultivators, seeing Han Li’s demeanor, instinctively exchanged a glance and grew even more vigilant, their eyes fixed intently on him.
“Alright then! Since I have nothing else to do, I’ll follow you two fellow cultivators for a while!” Han Li smiled broadly and suddenly spoke in a calm, unhurried tone.
The scholar and the burly man’s stern faces immediately softened. The old man in Confucian robes even showed a hint of pride, seemingly about to say something.
But at that moment, Han Li made his move.
His right hand, originally hidden in his sleeve, suddenly shot up, sending six beams of azure light silently rushing toward the burly man. At the same time, his left hand flipped over, and five bronze rings of varying colors suddenly appeared in his palm, emitting a low, continuous hum.
“Dare you attack?” The scholar reacted quickly. Upon seeing Han Li’s move, he immediately opened his mouth, and a square magical treasure, several inches in size, was spat out.
This object was flat and thin, pitch-black like ink — it resembled an inkstone, a strange ancient magical treasure.
The sturdy burly man also reacted swiftly, swinging his hand and releasing a large white jade seal. Suddenly, the treasure expanded several times in size, enveloped in white light, and moved toward the six beams of azure light.
“Careful! Those bronze rings are ancient treasures!”
At this moment, the scholar clearly saw the bronze rings in Han Li’s hand and was startled as he hurriedly warned.
The burly man was momentarily shocked by the warning, but before he could react, the six beams of azure light emitted a clear, sharp sound and morphed into twelve identical sword lights after a brief blur.
Six of these beams merged instantly into a massive azure greatsword, slashing fiercely at the white-light-encased jade seal.
The other six changed direction, tracing six arcs and shooting rapidly from the side.
The burly man was greatly alarmed. Without hesitation, he quickly formed hand seals with both hands. A surge of blue light erupted as several clear runes floated out of his body. These blue runes grew rapidly until they formed a pale blue light shield, protecting the burly man inside.
He intended to endure Han Li’s green bamboo bee cloud sword with this.
As the burly man made his move, the scholar naturally did not stand idly by.
After warning Han Li, he hastily pointed at the inkstone treasure floating before his chest.
The inkstone rapidly spun.
Black mist sprayed from it, spreading several meters wide, filling the area with the fragrance of brush and ink.
The scholar did not hesitate to form hand seals, and the black mist quickly condensed, forming dozens of pitch-black strange birds in the blink of an eye.
Each of these birds was about half a foot long, emitting strange cries and flashing red light as they flew toward Han Li.
But Han Li ignored all of this. After rapidly shaking the bronze rings in his hand a few times, they suddenly vanished into the glowing clouds.
Then, with another flip of his palm, an ancient-looking flower basket appeared in his hand.
Seeing that Han Li was unfazed by his attack, the scholar was not angry but rather delighted.
This “Illusion Inkstone” was forged by an ancient refining method, painstakingly created after tremendous effort.
He had spent nearly half his life’s savings on it, yet he had no regrets.
Since its creation, this Illusion Inkstone had made him nearly invincible against cultivators of the same level, even capable of contending with core formation stage cultivators.
As long as the opponent was not a cultivator far above him, once trapped within this illusion ink mist, they would immediately fall into a hallucination with no escape.
Seeing the strange birds charge at Han Li like arrows, the scholar’s face twisted into a sinister grin as he formed hand seals to detonate the birds.
