Chapter 497: Wolf-Shaped Artifact Spirit
Once Han Li distanced himself from Yuan Yao, he couldn’t resist the urge to take out the Void Heaven Cauldron, flying along while eagerly wanting to see the treasures inside the cauldron.
But it wasn’t long before Han Li felt like vomiting blood.
No matter what methods he tried, the cauldron lid seemed forged together with the body of the cauldron as one. There wasn’t the slightest gap to open.
Whether he wildly injected spiritual power into the cauldron or angrily blasted it directly with various magical treasures,
at most it would flicker a few blue glimmers, yet remain utterly immovable.
Han Li’s heart suddenly grew cold.
Now, aside from being able to enlarge or shrink the Void Heaven Cauldron, he had no way at all to handle it.
Realizing this fact, Han Li cursed loudly on the empty sea surface for quite some time, naturally directing his anger at the so-called master of the Void Heaven Hall.
It was obvious that there was something strange about this Void Heaven Cauldron. Either only a nascent soul stage cultivator could operate it, or there was some secret method to open it. It wasn’t as simple as just injecting spiritual power.
Could it have something to do with the original Qian Blue Ice Flame that surrounded the cauldron?
Bewildered, Han Li could only guess wildly.
But upon reflection, this was quite normal.
The Void Heaven Cauldron was reputed as the top secret treasure of the Chaotic Star Sea. It was to be expected that some tricks would be involved, so there was no need to make a big fuss.
However, guarding a treasure without being able to use it was extremely frustrating for Han Li.
In a fit of rage, he tossed the cauldron back into his storage bag, deciding to study it carefully some other time when he had the chance.
Next, Han Li took out the Wolf Head Jade Ruyi Scepter and began to explore its uses.
Surprisingly, in a short time, this ancient treasure actually revealed two magical abilities to him.
The simplest was directly injecting spiritual power into the scepter, which would create a yellow and red dual-colored shield around him.
Han Li had personally witnessed the defensive power of this shield in the Void Heaven Hall. It was able to withstand a strike from the enormous hand formed by scholar Qingyi’s transformation, leaving him unharmed — clearly no ordinary defense.
The other magical ability required Han Li to silently recite a few lines of ancient incantations engraved on one side of the scepter, then extend his spiritual awareness into the wolf heads at both ends. Depending on the situation, he could summon either two small wolves — one red, one yellow — or just call forth a single giant silver wolf.
The red small wolf seemed to be a pure fire-attributed spiritual energy manifestation, innately able to perform several strong fire spirit spells.
The yellow small wolf was earth-attributed, skilled in earth spirit magic. Among these was the earth escape technique that Han Li had long wished to learn but never quite grasped.
This was an unexpected pleasant surprise for Han Li.
As for the giant silver wolf, Han Li found it somewhat troublesome. He was unable to control the beast.
No matter what commands he issued, the silver wolf would respond, but its actions always carried a lazy, indifferent attitude.
When Han Li tried to observe what spells the wolf could use, it would pretend to be crazy and ignore him.
Seeing that extremely dismissive expression in the wolf’s eyes, Han Li was utterly speechless.
He also realized that both the yellow and red wolves were merely manifestations of the silver wolf. Clearly, the silver wolf was the true artifact spirit of the Jade Ruyi Scepter.
As to why the silver wolf was so unruly, it was likely because it had not been thoroughly refined yet. This was Han Li’s only guess.
However, Han Li vividly remembered the surprised expression of the mysterious bone old demon when he first saw the silver wolf, who even risked firing a golden thunder bamboo arrow at it.
