Chapter 489: Seizing the Cauldron

The Void Heaven Cauldron was flat and round, with two handles and three legs, standing about four feet tall and roughly a yard in diameter—not particularly large.

At the top was a slightly raised circular lid, carved around the edges with images of insects, fish, beasts, and numerous landscapes with mountains and trees. Though the carvings looked rough and simple, they were remarkably lifelike, even giving Han Li a strong sense of a wild, ancient atmosphere rushing toward him.

As soon as the cauldron appeared at the cave entrance, it began to hum softly, the sound growing steadily louder. At the same time, the blue qian blue ice flame surrounding it let out several sharp “seng” sounds and surged wildly, expanding several times in size.

Han Li and Mysterious Bone, who were standing near the entrance, both turned pale and quickly flew backward almost simultaneously.

Within a radius of over ten yards around the altar, everything was bathed in a pale blue glow and completely frozen solid.

Except for the slowly flickering light flame at the cave entrance, only the blood jade spider and the spider corpse-refiner nearby remained active within their respective blood auras. Everything else was completely immobilized. If Han Li or Mysterious Bone had hesitated even a moment longer, they would have been frozen in place as well.

At this moment, the altar seemed to be encased inside a giant blue crystal.

“How are we supposed to take the treasure like this?” Han Li’s expression changed drastically as he asked Mysterious Bone.

With such a strange scene that seemed to freeze even spiritual power, Han Li naturally had no idea how to get the treasure.

“It’s alright. I have a way to handle the qian blue ice flame outside the cauldron. The mysterious soul yin fire I cultivate is also extremely yin and cold. Although it can’t yet compare to this ice flame, I can temporarily isolate and trap it for a short while. During that time, you can pull the cauldron out of the cave and seize it,” Mysterious Bone said without blinking, his tone calm but serious.

Although his words sounded cold, Han Li detected a hint of excitement beneath them.

Han Li’s expression twitched slightly!

The other party actually volunteered to deal with that extremely dangerous blue ice flame and let him take the Treasure Cauldron. This caught him by surprise. He glanced at Mysterious Bone with a strange look.

If an old devil were so kind, Han Li would never believe it.

But the approach the other party proposed didn’t seem to have any obvious flaws.

Could it be that taking the Void Heaven Cauldron itself was even more dangerous? Han Li felt a flicker of doubt rise in his heart.

Of course, if Mysterious Bone suggested that Han Li deal with the ice flame while he himself took the treasure, Han Li certainly would not agree.

After some thought, Han Li steeled his resolve and decided to agree.

Now was not the time to hesitate; everything had to be handled as the situation demanded. If taking this treasure cauldron was somehow problematic, he would rather give up the treasure than risk himself.

After settling his mind, Han Li casually nodded a few times to Mysterious Bone to show his agreement.

Mysterious Bone smiled with satisfaction.

Then, a strange expression appearing on his face, he stared at the blue flames for a few moments before spinning rapidly in mid-air.

The ghost energy around him swirled, forming a jade-green vortex about a yard in diameter. Around it was a thick aura of yin energy, accompanied by eerie, wailing ghost cries.

Then, the vortex pressed down directly onto the blue ice crystal below.

With a tremendous rumble, the swirling wind seemed to ignite, instantly transforming into roaring flames that shot up a towering pillar more than ten yards high.

This flame pillar was neither red nor white; its color shifted between black and green, devoid of any warmth—instead exuding a chillingly extreme cold.

Han Li’s eyes widened as he stared straight at the strange flame pillar plunging into the blue ice.
