Chapter 478: Retrieving the Treasure

Han Li did not show his feelings on his face. Instead, he took a few steps to the edge of the cave and peered inside.

What he saw caused a surge of surprise in his heart.

The depth of this large cave was not as unfathomably deep as he had imagined—only about twenty or thirty zhang. With his foundation formation stage cultivation base, he clearly saw at the bottom a glaring blue flame burning fiercely. Within the blue flame, something black flickered faintly.

It seemed this was the famous Void Heaven Cauldron.

But as he leaned in, Han Li felt an intense, bone-chilling cold emanating from the cave. If it weren’t for the Spiritual Symbiosis Device blocking most of the chill, he might have been frozen solid just from looking inside.

The blue light at the bottom was clearly in the form of flames, yet it gave off an opposite, piercing cold.

However, after only a couple more glances at the blue flame, dizziness suddenly struck his head. Startled, he quickly withdrew his gaze and straightened up.

“How is it? That’s the qian blue ice flame, a fire of supreme yin and extreme cold. Not even cultivators at the foundation formation stage dare touch it, let alone us old fellows who have reached the nascent soul stage. If even a little of this cold flame burns you, it can easily refine away your nascent soul. Rumor has it this fire does not belong to our world’s domain; no one knows how those ancient cultivators found this particular flame,” the supreme patriarch of dark yin said slowly beside Han Li, eyes fixed on the cave.

“Even a nascent soul can be refined away?” Han Li gasped upon hearing this. But soon, his expression returned to calm.

If that weren’t the case, the Void Heaven Cauldron would have been taken long ago; it wouldn’t still be here!

“Although the qian blue ice flame is extremely dangerous to us cultivators, there are still a few things it cannot burn—like the golden silk excreted by the Golden Silkworm, the spider silk of the blood jade spider, and my two fire pythons,” the supreme patriarch continued.

“Now, summon your blood jade spider! Let us take a closer look,” he commanded in an uncompromising tone.

Under the watchful eyes of the supreme patriarch, Barbarian Huzi, and the old man, Han Li did not delay further. With one hand, he pressed against the spiritual beast pouch at his waist. A white light shot out from the pouch’s opening, circled once, then landed before everyone.

As the light dimmed, the blood jade spider appeared, not very large in size. Seeing so many strangers, its fangs ground quickly, and its eyes seemed filled with hostility.

Barbarian Huzi and the others paid no mind to this, instead regarding the spiritual beast as if it were a treasure.

“Tsk, tsk! This blood jade spider is quite large. It looks like the peak of a level 4 demonic beast, about to break through to level 5. Retrieving the treasure might really be possible!” Barbarian Huzi’s expression shifted with surprise as the spider appeared.

“Heh heh! In terms of strength, my apprentice’s blood jade spider might not compare to some savage mutants, but for retrieving the Void Heaven Cauldron, this spiritual beast is the best choice,” the supreme patriarch said excitedly, eyes fixed on the spider.

“Brother Wu is right! Besides, this spider is much higher in rank than those Golden Silkworms that have barely reached level 2 demonic beast. Even just this one spider surpasses them all,” the old man in Confucian robes said with a smile. After all, the treasure hunt no longer seemed impossible.

“Let’s start immediately! Otherwise, the longer we wait, the more danger there will be! Han Li, have your spider spray its web to wrap the Void Heaven Cauldron. Then have it pull hard. I will have my two fire pythons assist the blood jade spider,” the supreme patriarch said bluntly, seeing there was no issue with the spider.

Although reluctant, Han Li had no choice but to agree obediently.
