Chapter 473: Wolf-Headed Puppet

Han Li and the others were now walking through a place resembling a maze.

Interwoven blue stone paths stretched out before them, flanked by tall, sturdy, thick walls. At every intersection, there stood a stone door carved with strange runes.

These stone doors were all the same size and shape—over ten zhang long and wide, forming perfect squares. Some faced south, others north, and still others opened east to west, with no apparent pattern. Yet, all of them emitted a faint white glow, clearly sealed with some kind of restriction.

Although intersections appeared only after long stretches of walking, Han Li estimated that by now he had seen at least seven or eight stone doors along his path. And this count didn’t even include the other routes running parallel to his group.

That meant there were quite a number of these stone doors!

Just then, they passed another intersection, and directly ahead, facing them, stood a stone door.

Han Li’s expression shifted slightly.

This door was somewhat different from the previous ones. Though it bore the same runes and relief carvings, it was dim and lifeless, lacking even a trace of light, as if its sealing had been broken.

Han Li looked at it with an unusual expression, glancing twice.

ā€œJunior Brother Han, this stone chamber has long since been looted. What’s there to look at? If not for the fact that each person can only use their Fragmented Celestial Map to open one stone door, and once inside, no matter the success in obtaining treasures, they cannot leave again—those who do succeed will be directly teleported outside the Void Heaven Hall—I would also like to pick a door and try my luck. After all, we core formation stage cultivators can only obtain treasures on the first level. As for the upper levels, entering them would be almost like suicide,ā€ Wu Chou said warmly and familiarly upon noticing Han Li’s expression.

ā€œJunior Brother Han?ā€ Han Li felt uneasy hearing this form of address from Wu Chou. Though he had heard it more than once, it still made him uncomfortable.

Fortunately, Han Li had exceptional composure and smiled without revealing any discomfort. ā€œBrother Wu, why don’t you pick a door and go in to claim treasure? Otherwise, it would be a shame to waste this rare opportunity once we reach the second level or higher.ā€

ā€œCough! I have that intention. But the clan patriarch has already reminded me that I must stay by his side throughout this treasure hunt. Perhaps my presence will still be needed,ā€ Wu Chou said, gazing at the stone door with reluctance. A flicker of greed passed over his face.

Han Li smiled faintly upon hearing this and cast a passing glance at the door. But he carefully remembered the words that once inside, the treasure taker would be teleported out.

Who knew if he might one day use this method to escape?

At that moment, the group was about to pass through the intersection and enter the blue stone path ahead.

Suddenly, a heavy thud came from the opposite side, followed by continuous sounds, as if something enormous was slowly approaching them.

The expressions of the supreme patriarch of dark yin and scholar Qingyi changed slightly. They stopped in their tracks and stared intently down the passage, their eyes revealing a heavy seriousness.

Barbarian Huzi, on hearing the noise, chuckled with a hint of excitement. A golden light flashed over his body as a layer of shiny golden scales abruptly appeared all over him—he had activated the Heaven-Supporting Demonic Technique.

Han Li got his first close look at the bizarre form of the demonic technique and couldn’t help but glance curiously at Barbarian Huzi.

But Barbarian Huzi sharply sensed Han Li’s gaze, turned his head, and gave him a ferocious smile. Coupled with the tiny scales all over his face, the smile was extremely terrifying.

Han Li’s heart skipped a beat, unsure of Barbarian Huzi’s intent, but he forced a faint smile in return.

Luckily, after smiling, Barbarian Huzi immediately turned his head back.
