Chapter 426: Deception
“Are you human or ghost?” Jin Qing forced down the fear in his heart and asked somewhat awkwardly.
“Human? Ghost? What do you think?” The Strange Shadow gave a dark smile, his words full of mockery.
Hearing this, Jin Qing’s face darkened considerably.
Han Li remained silent. Without any warning, he swiftly unfurled the scroll in his hand.
Countless firebirds surged out wildly, swarming directly toward the Strange Shadow. At the same time, the giant bird that had been fighting the giant python let out a sharp cry, abandoning its struggle and transforming into a ball of scorching white flames, fiercely shooting toward the Strange Shadow.
Seeing this, the Strange Shadow snorted coldly through his nose, his voice dripping with disdain.
“Zhiyang Bird? If this were the bird’s true form appearing, perhaps I would fear it a little. But now, it's merely a fleeting remnant, yet you dare to imitate others in devouring ghosts and exorcising demons?”
As soon as he finished speaking, the green shadow raised both hands, and the black energy on his body condensed instantly on his palms. Then came two “puff” sounds.
The black energy on his hands suddenly burst forth, transforming into two horned ink pythons that darted into the flock of firebirds, devouring them wildly. Every swipe of their huge jaws swallowed several firebirds, and the white flames the birds spat out couldn’t harm the two demon pythons even a bit.
At this moment, the white fireball formed by the giant “Zhiyang Bird” had reached nearby. But rather than dealing with the two ink pythons, it headed straight toward the green shadow’s true form.
The Strange Shadow’s eyes flashed red, glowing even more fiercely.
Though his body remained still, an unmistakable seriousness radiated from him.
Clearly, facing the remnant soul of the “Zhiyang Bird” was not as easy as he had claimed.
With a loud “bang,”
The Strange Shadow shook his hands, causing the two horned pythons to detach and act on their own.
Then, clenching his fists tightly, emerald green ghostly flames roared to life on his knuckles. With a flash, he struck the white fireball fiercely.
To the surprise of Han Li and Jin Qing, the white fireball exploded and scattered in all directions before vanishing.
Suddenly, a milky white crystal orb appeared on one of the Strange Shadow’s fists.
The Strange Shadow sneered savagely and swallowed the crystal orb without hesitation, then coldly fixed his gaze on Han Li again.
At this moment, the scroll in Han Li’s hand inexplicably burst into flames. Hastily, he tossed it away, and it instantly turned to ashes.
Simultaneously, the firebirds still entangled with the two ink pythons vanished one by one as the scroll burned.
Han Li took a deep breath.
Though he knew these “Zhiyang Birds”’ clones were no match for the opponent and were only used to test the enemy’s strength,
he hadn’t expected the green shadow to effortlessly destroy this magical treasure designed to counter ghosts without revealing any clues.
The one certainty was that the opponent was not a mere ghostly specter!
Han Li quietly stared at the green shadow, inwardly calculating his chances of victory in a fight.
“Very well, it’ll be you! I’m quite interested in your body now. The other two, get lost!” The Strange Shadow fixed his gaze on Han Li and coldly said.
It seemed Han Li’s previous attack had angered him.
The quhun naturally remained motionless, but Jin Qing’s mind became troubled upon hearing this, his expression flickering uncertainly.
Though he hadn’t fought personally, the opponent was unfathomably deep. Even with Han Li’s cooperation, Jin Qing estimated their odds of winning were slim.
Now hearing the Strange Shadow tell him to leave, his heart wavered.
Having witnessed so many cultivators die brutally today, this usually self-righteous cultivator was for the first time gripped by the desire to survive and the thought that there would be a long future ahead.
“What, you don’t even want me to spare you two? Then I’ll just put in a little extra effort and turn you into dried corpses!” The Strange Shadow snorted coldly, speaking ominously as he glanced at Jin Qing and the quhun.
