Chapter 387: Golddevourer Worm

The secret chambers for feeding the exotic insects were dozens of stone chambers of various sizes that Han Li had carved out on a blue stone wall.

To prevent them from escaping these chambers, Han Li had also set up several small restrictions between each chamber to stop them from breaking out.

From Han Li’s perspective, even though these exotic insects were ranked high, most of them were still young. These restrictions, even if ordinary, were enough to trap them.

But the chambers before him had all the restrictions completely gone, and every stone door was riddled with holes like a beehive, heavily damaged.

Han Li was a little shocked. With a thought, Quhun took a big step forward and pushed open the nearest stone door.

Inside was completely empty, nothing at all.

Han Li exhaled lightly. Although he had been mentally prepared, he was still extremely frustrated.

He swept through the chamber once more, then turned his head slightly and fixed his gaze on the stone door again.

Without a word, he walked over and half crouched in front of the damaged door.

The damage to the door was very peculiar, covered with countless small holes all the same size.

What confused Han Li was that the insides of those holes were not smooth but extremely rough, unlike something caused by a magical artifact.

Han Li frowned and slowly stood up.

He closed his eyes slowly, and his spiritual awareness instantly swept through the other chambers.

They were all empty as well. Even the chambers housing two exotic insects ranked within the top one hundred were just as barren. This made Han Li feel a bit heartbroken!

Suddenly his expression changed. He opened his eyes.

A cold light flashed in his eyes as he left the room and headed to another chamber.

It was another empty room, but Han Li entered without hesitation and bent down to pick something off the blue stone floor.

He placed it in his palm and held it up to examine it closely.

It was a tiny insect shell, about the size of a bean, shimmering silver as if forged from pure silver — extremely beautiful.

Han Li touched the shell gently with a finger and felt the surface was incredibly smooth and very hard.

He looked down thoughtfully for a moment, certain this was definitely not the exoskeleton of an insect he had been raising.

With this realization, Han Li’s expression grew serious and he narrowed his eyes.

Using these chambers as the center, he began to search inch by inch through the secluded mansion with his spiritual awareness.

He was determined not to come up empty-handed.

After a short while, Han Li made an unexpected discovery in the medicinal garden.

Under a thick flower tree hung a shining silver orb, something not native to the mansion.

Han Li beckoned Quhun and, with a gloomy expression, left the chambers to head toward the medicinal garden.

The silver orb was not large, about the size of a child’s head. But the flickering demonic silver light it emitted was extremely eye-catching.

Han Li stood at the entrance of the garden, staring intently at the silver orb without speaking.

He always felt as if he had heard about this silver sphere somewhere before, but couldn't recall where at the moment.

However, this object definitely had a close relation to the silver insect shell!

ā€œInsect shell!ā€ A sudden flash of insight lit up Han Li’s mind, as if he had remembered something.

He hurriedly reached into his storage pouch and pulled out a green Jade Slip—the one containing the Imperial Spirit Sect cultivators’ notes on raising insects.

Diving into the information, Han Li immediately found relevant details under the twelfth position on the exotic insect rankings.

ā€œGolddevourer Worm: a ferocious insect that gathers in groups, ranked twelfth on the exotic insect list. It loves to prey on exotic insects, capable of consuming all five metals and the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. Extremely fierce, immune to water and fire, tends to cluster in spheres, dwelling under spiritual trees. Jade and wooden materials can trap it. Spider-type exotic insects counter it...ā€
