Chapter 379: Setting Sail (Part 2)
“Welcome, Daoist Qu. I am Feng Sanniang of the Six-Linked Hall. Along with the others, I am responsible for overseeing the formation,” a woman of about forty stood up with a bright smile and said.
Although not exactly stunning, the woman still possessed a certain charm.
“So it’s Daoist Feng. I, Quhun, salute you,” Quhun replied calmly, then led Han Li toward the table.
Han Li’s gaze swept the hall, taking note of the unfamiliar cultivators inside.
There was a middle-aged scholar with an ordinary appearance, a charming young woman in her twenties, an elderly man with gray-white eyes, and a young man radiating a deep red glow all over his body. Including the woman who called herself Feng Sanniang, there were exactly five people.
However, the young woman was only at the early foundation establishment stage and sat closely beside the scholar, appearing quite intimate—likely a pair of Dao companions.
As Han Li pondered this quietly, Feng Sanniang giggled and spoke:
“Daoist Qu, your arrival is perfect timing. The others and I were just discussing the variations of the Six Escapes Water Wave Grand Formation! If we can practice thoroughly beforehand, I believe everyone will handle the formation with greater ease. But before that, let me introduce the other Dao friends to you!” Feng Sanniang was clearly skilled in socializing; her gentle words quickly bridged the distance between Han Li and the others.
“These two are Disciple Mao and Daoist Xue, esteemed apprentices of Island Lord Zhan Tai from Tailstar Island!” Feng Sanniang first pointed to the middle-aged scholar and the young woman as she introduced them to Han Li.
“Quhun? A cultivator from Kui Xing Island? I know quite a few, yet I’ve never heard of you,” the middle-aged scholar said coldly, casting a disdainful glance at Han Li with a haughty tone.
For some unknown reason, the scholar seemed displeased with Quhun, starting off with an offensive remark.
This caused Feng Sanniang’s bright smile to momentarily falter, but she quickly recovered.
“I was never originally a cultivator of Kui Xing Island, only recently visiting to see my junior nephew Han. It’s strange you don’t know my name! Besides, I’m hearing yours for the first time as well,” Quhun retorted evenly.
“You...” the scholar was about to respond.
“Let me introduce you. This elder is Daoist Qingsuanzi, a recluse from Golden Turtle Island. Though little known, his mastery of wood-element magical power is unrivaled among foundation establishment cultivators! As for Daoist Yan, he is even more formidable—his dark fire body cultivates pure yang true fire with extraordinary skill.”
The middle-aged scholar’s face darkened with anger, seemingly intent on saying more, but Feng Sanniang quickly interrupted to change the subject.
“Daoist Qing! Daoist Yan!” Quhun glanced briefly at the elder and the young man, nodding slightly in acknowledgment.
Though these two shared a late foundation establishment stage cultivation base with the scholar, they clearly exerted a much greater pressure on Han Li. It was obvious their cultivation techniques were extraordinary. Han Li had no intention of offending them lightly.
“Greetings, Daoist Qu!”
“I offer my respects!”
The two responded with smiles, neither showing arrogance.
This made the middle-aged scholar increasingly uncomfortable.
Before Feng Sanniang could say more, he suddenly stood up with a stern expression and said:
“I wish to return to my room and meditate for a while. We can discuss the formation matters later!”
With that, he swept his sleeve and turned, leaving the hall. The young woman looked apologetically at the others before following him out.
“Hmph! What arrogance. Doesn’t he have a master who’s an island lord?” the young man with the red glow said irritably.
The elder and Feng Sanniang’s expressions also shifted slightly, but the elder quickly resumed his impassive demeanor. Feng Sanniang forced a smile and invited Quhun to sit, clearly wanting to avoid discussing the scholar.
