Chapter 370: Challenge (Part Two)
"What’s so funny? I’m just showing mercy and don’t want to hurt anyone!" The immortal master opposite him, seeing Han Li’s indifferent expression, grew annoyed and even more determined to assert his superiority.
"Nothing! I just think this match seems a bit easier than I expected," Han Li said casually, tapping the ground with the tip of his foot.
"What? How dare you look down on me like that!" The middle-aged cultivator’s face flushed red. He raised his hand, producing a sparkling object. But before he could wield it, he suddenly saw a flash of movement. His eyes went dark, and he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
...
A moment later, Han Li carried the fainted middle-aged cultivator out calmly.
The other cultivators in the hall were shocked by this scene.
They could clearly see the cultivation difference between Han Li and his opponent. For Han Li to win was completely unexpected.
But not all cultivators were utterly surprised. The elderly man who had been sitting with a stern expression displayed a strange look.
He gave Han Li a meaningful glance. Though he said nothing, it seemed he understood how Han Li had managed to win.
Han Li chuckled softly, nonchalantly placing two bamboo sticks in front of the elder, then laid the unconscious opponent on the ground and returned to the group of victorious cultivators.
The elder looked down at the unconscious middle-aged cultivator, shook his head lightly, and showed a faint, enigmatic smile.
"Number Eight."
...
When the last winner appeared, the elder looked at the other ten cultivators who had not yet stepped forward, cleared his throat, and said calmly:
"We will now begin challenges in numerical order. If your magical power is severely depleted, you may rest and challenge later. But all challenges must be completed today; otherwise, you will be considered as forfeiting. Challengers may not face opponents they have already fought. As for the extra number eleven, they will challenge one of the ten winners at the end."
"Alright, let’s begin!"
After the elder finished speaking, the number one cultivator eagerly selected the opponent who looked the weakest among the ten cultivators and stepped onto the platform together.
The challenged opponent had cultivation base at the sixth layer, while the challenger was at the seventh layer, so the odds seemed favorable.
But after only a short while, the first to step out of the white light was the sixth-layer cultivator. The number one cultivator staggered out later, covered in wounds.
His face filled with shame, he left the hall immediately without a word.
Seeing this, the other challengers’ expressions changed. The victorious cultivator returned to the group nonchalantly.
"Next!" The elder called out without surprise. It seemed the victory of that cultivator was expected.
"Senior, my magical power hasn’t recovered yet. Please wait a moment," the number two cultivator said, his face slightly flushed.
"Number three," the elder ignored whether the excuse was genuine or cowardice and called the next number.
The next cultivator frowned slightly but also chose to avoid the challenge.
The number four cultivator, however, couldn’t stand it anymore and bravely selected an opponent, stepping onto the platform.
The same scene repeated.
Looking at the heavily injured number four cultivator, the remaining challengers could not hide their shock.
Under such circumstances, the two cultivators after him also delayed their challenges, thinking it wiser to let others go first.
"Number Seven," the elder’s expression shifted slightly, then he slowly called Han Li’s number.
Han Li walked out silently, stretched out a finger, and pointed to a sixth-layer cultivator.
That cultivator was a burly strong man. Seeing Han Li not shrink back but choose him, he grinned fiercely and strode toward the platform.
Han Li, in contrast, walked at a leisurely pace, as if pondering his strategy.
As the strong man and Han Li disappeared into the white light, all eyes focused on the platform.
