Chapter 367: Protector and Settlement

Wang Changqing smiled bitterly when he heard Han Li’s question.

“Immortal Master, although some of you cultivators have storage bags, you all cherish them immensely. How could you lend them to us mortals to carry mundane items? Moreover, each trade between the major islands involves entire ships carrying large quantities. Even though your storage bags are incredibly mystical, they can’t hold that much. And the cultivators would never do such menial transporting tasks tied to your status!” Wang Changqing cautiously explained to Han Li.

Hearing this, Han Li nodded silently, half-closing his eyes as he fell into deep thought.

After a while, he said calmly, “Owner Gu wants me to intervene, but I am powerless. My cultivation base is too low; even if I agreed, it would only bring humiliation. Please, Mr. Wang, report honestly to Owner Gu and ask him to find someone more capable! As payment for bringing me to Kui Xing Island on your ship, I will pay some spirit stones as a reward.”

Han Li spoke slowly and clearly, but his tone was cold and indifferent.

The old man’s face paled slightly at this rejection.

Then, he begged Han Li earnestly, “Great Immortal Master, please help my Owner! You must understand, Owner Gu has already spent a lot on the ship and the people to secure this deal. Moreover, he spent a large sum of spirit stones just to qualify for the challenge. Without gaining the trading rights between the major islands, the Gu Family will go bankrupt. We workers will lose our jobs and have to find other work.” The old man’s expression was full of desperation.

“My cultivation base is indeed low, and I don’t want to cause trouble as soon as I arrive at Kui Xing Island,” Han Li said expressionlessly, shaking his head firmly, refusing in a straightforward manner.

Seeing Han Li’s determination and harsh tone, Wang Changqing dared not argue further. He forced himself to continue chatting with Han Li about local customs and some urgent information Han Li wanted to know.

Half an hour later, seeing the old man looking tired, Han Li told him to rest and come back the next day to teach him some local language.

Wang Changqing was already exhausted and didn’t object to Han Li’s considerate suggestion. He withdrew quietly.

After the old man left and respectfully closed the wooden door, Han Li sighed softly.

Although he had some spirit medicines that could refresh him and even benefit mortal bodies, he had no intention of giving any to the old man.

In an unfamiliar place, it was better not to reveal one’s wealth. Otherwise, it might attract unnecessary trouble or even danger to life.

After this thought, Han Li sat cross-legged on the bed, took out a bottle of Yellow Dragon Pill, poured one into his mouth, and began cultivating qi.

He had to restore his cultivation base as soon as possible. After all, in any immortal cultivation world, strength always speaks!

But Han Li had only been meditating briefly when faint footsteps came from outside the door.

Without opening it, Han Li sent out his spiritual awareness and projected everything outside into his mind.

It was Wang Changqing returning, followed by Owner Gu, both looking troubled.

Han Li frowned lightly.

Trouble was coming! Obviously, Owner Gu was not giving up and wanted to pester him again.

If this were Tian Nan, Han Li would have stopped them cold with a cold word, not letting them enter.

But now, just arriving in a strange place, it was better not to appear too unfriendly.

Thinking this, Han Li calmly called out without waiting for them to knock, “Please come in! The door isn’t locked!”

Startled by Han Li’s voice suddenly sounding in their ears, Owner Gu and Wang Changqing quickly composed themselves upon realizing it was the Immortal Master inviting them in.

They tidied their collars and politely replied before gently pushing the door open and entering.

Han Li had already gotten off the bed and was standing inside with his hands behind his back.
