Chapter 36: Surprise
Seeing Han Li lose his temper, Li Feiyu didnât get angry. His face remained completely indifferent.
He tilted his head and stuck his little finger into his ear, carefully picking at it. He looked as if he were ready for anythingâlike a soldier prepared to face an attack or a farmer ready for a flood.
After venting his anger, Han Li noticed how thick-skinned Li Feiyu was, as if he hadnât heard a thing. This made Han Li calm down, sensing that something about this situation was suspicious.
âYouâre not stupid, nor are you arrogant. You wouldnât do something so reckless without a reasonable explanation, right?â Han Li asked, now clear-headed.
Li Feiyu saw how quickly Han Liâs anger had dissipated and that he had returned to his usual rational self. He felt a bit regretful but put on a pitiful, aggrieved expression, complaining loudly, âOh heavens! Iâm truly wronged!â
âI was about to explain to you just now, but you never gave me a chance to speak!â
âAnd now you complain about me. Iâm really caught between the devil and the deep blue sea!â
This fake, whining act was so transparent that anyone could see through the pretense, making him seem downright annoying.
Han Li almost couldnât help himself; he wanted to step forward and give Li Feiyu a sharp kick, mocking the ridiculous pose he had struck.
âCut the nonsense and explain yourself,â Han Li said sternly.
âYou look like such a rogue. Arenât you afraid your junior disciples who admire you will see you like this? If they catch you slacking off, all the cool, ruthless assassin image you built up before will be completely destroyed.â Han Li gave him a slight sneer, mocking him.
Right now, Han Li had no mood to joke around. If this matter wasnât handled properly, they both would be in huge trouble.
Li Feiyu seemed to understand what Han Li was thinking and didnât argue back against the sarcasm. Instead, he lazily walked over to a pile of bundles, bent down, casually picked up a manual, and stood up.
Once upright again, a mysterious gleam appeared on his face. With a half-smile, he handed the book to Han Li and gave him a look, silently urging him to open it and take a peek.
Han Li took the thin manual without much thought, casting a puzzled glance at Li Feiyu.
He was a bit confused, not knowing what scheme Li Feiyu was up to.
âOpen it and youâll understand everything,â Li Feiyu coaxed, sounding like he wanted to enjoy the show.
âWhy not just say it outright? Why all the mystery?â Han Li frowned but still flipped open the pages.
As soon as he opened the cover, the first page displayed four clear black characters: âblink sword manual.â
âHmm!â Han Li was somewhat surprised.
The very first book Li Feiyu handed him was exactly what he wanted. This caught him off guard.
âDonât be so shocked. Take a look at the others,â Li Feiyu immediately tossed over several more manuals.
Han Li accepted them one by one, quickly flipping through them. He was stunned speechless.
Every single book clearly displayed the words âblink sword manualâ right at the beginning of the main text.
After a long moment, Han Li finally tore his gaze away from the pile of books in his hands.
He looked up and pointed to the large stack of manuals on the ground, asking hesitantly, âYouâre not telling me⌠all of these⌠are âblink sword manualsâ?â
âUnfortunately, junior brother Han, you guessed right.â Li Feiyu shrugged and spread his hands, feigning helplessness.
But the slight curl of his lips and the tone of glee completely betrayed his words.
âThatâs impossible! There are nearly a hundred books here. How can they all be blink sword manuals?â Han Li, unable to ignore Li Feiyuâs little act, questioned in disbelief.
âYouâre asking me? Who do you want me to ask?â
âI was in the corner of the library and suddenly came across so many duplicates. I was quite shocked myself!â Li Feiyu rolled his eyes and muttered, still acting like he was haunted by the experience.
