Chapter 35: Stealing the Manual
One afternoon, more than ten days later, Han Li once again sneaked out of Divine Hand Valley to meet up with Li Feiyu.
Actually, it wasn’t exactly sneaking out. Doctor Mo was well aware that Han Li frequently left the valley, but he never interfered and allowed Han Li to come and go freely.
At first, this indifferent attitude made Han Li uneasy, unsure of what scheme Doctor Mo might be plotting. But after several peaceful outings, he realized no one was following him and relaxed, boldly focusing on his own affairs.
After a period of careful consideration, Han Li gradually understood the reason behind Doctor Mo’s tolerance.
Though Doctor Mo used the Corpse Insect Pill and the lives of Han Li’s family as two heavy chains to tightly control him, he knew that such harsh methods would breed resentment, making Han Li unwilling to cultivate wholeheartedly. Restricting Han Li’s freedom of movement even more would only backfire. After all, Doctor Mo’s real intention was to encourage Han Li to actively and voluntarily practice the everlasting spring technique, not to force him by tying his hands and feet.
Once Han Li understood the whole situation, his courage grew. Previously, he would try to avoid Doctor Mo’s gaze, be cautious when entering or leaving the valley, and sneak out quietly. Now, he boldly strode past Doctor Mo without a word.
On the surface, Han Li appeared carefree and indifferent, as if he no longer cared at all. Yet, deep down, he remained cautious.
As soon as he stepped outside the valley, he activated the everlasting spring technique, heightening his senses to an incredible level, bringing every movable object within dozens of yards under his control.
Han Li was confident that even if Doctor Mo personally came to tail him, he would not escape his sensory reconnaissance.
He might not stand a chance in a direct confrontation, but when it came to mastering the five senses, he had absolute confidence in himself.
Along the way, Han Li carefully avoided the patrolling disciples, entered a secret passage inside an old locust tree, and climbed near the small pond where they had met last time.
Upon arrival, he saw Li Feiyu sitting barefoot by the pond.
Li Feiyu kept his head lowered, his bare feet soaking in the cool water. He was happily slapping the water’s surface, creating splashes of colorful droplets.
Hearing Han Li’s footsteps, he didn’t look up but complained directly, “Junior Brother Han, you’re coming later and later each time. I always have to wait for half a day. Can’t you come earlier once in a while?”
“Sorry, I...” Han Li brushed the dirt off his clothes, about to explain.
“Carry on.”
Without waiting for Han Li to finish, Li Feiyu threw a huge wrapped package from behind his back toward him.
“What’s this? Something to eat?” Han Li was puzzled but then felt the package was hard and heavy, definitely not edible.
“You only think about food! Didn’t you ask me to bring out the blink sword technique Sword Manual?” Li Feiyu glared at him before seriously saying.
“Sword Manual? Are you kidding? You didn’t accidentally put a whetstone from your courtyard inside, did you?” Han Li looked at the enormous object strapped to his arm, disbelieving.
“It’s heavy!” He strained his arms to lift it, nearly toppling over.
“Ha ha!” Li Feiyu couldn’t hold back and burst into laughter, eventually rolling on the ground covered in grass and dirt.
Han Li suspiciously watched his friend’s bizarre behavior and glanced again at the unbelievably large package.
“Thump!”
He gently kicked the package with his foot. It really felt like a book.
Ignoring his overjoyed friend, Han Li touched his chin, squatted down beside the package.
For him, guessing something whose outcome was immediately apparent was a waste of effort.
A pair of fair hands placed firmly on the tight knots of the package, ten fingers flickering slightly, shadows dancing briefly on the bundle. Miraculously, the tightly tied knot loosened.
