Chapter 32: The Birth of Heroic Spirit

Han Li turned and walked toward the door. When he reached the entrance, he suddenly looked back and asked one more question:

"The brother standing behind Old Mo hasn’t said a word. May I ask, what is his background?"

Doctor Mo heard Han Li’s sudden question and smiled slightly, evasively avoiding the answer with slyness:

“You’re so clever—why don’t you take a guess? I’m sure you can figure it out.”

Han Li shook his head and walked out of Doctor Mo’s room decisively. Whether he couldn’t guess or simply didn’t want to, he made no attempt.

Once outside, Han Li’s expression darkened.

“In this confrontation with Doctor Mo, I didn’t fight back at all and was easily controlled by him. That shows I was too naive, thinking I could outsmart him with just a little cleverness. In the end, the tube of Five Poisons Water I painstakingly made didn’t even take effect before it was confiscated. I really need to go back and seriously think about how to strengthen my own power.”

With that thought, he strode toward his own place. It was clear he wasn’t willing to be controlled so easily by Doctor Mo.

Inside the house, Doctor Mo stared in disbelief at the wooden floor, where a black hole about as wide as a bowl had appeared. Moments ago, he had casually fired off whatever was inside the iron tube. The poison sprayed out easily corroded the floor completely through.

Seeing the strange and deadly poison, Doctor Mo couldn’t hold back his fear, jumping up and cursing loudly:

“That bastard! When did he learn to make such poison? I never taught him anything like this! I thought it was just some ordinary fairy trance medicine. This brat is truly ruthless—turning his back on everyone.”

Unaware he had shocked Doctor Mo so badly, Han Li returned to his room and collapsed onto his bed, falling into a deep sleep. After such a tumultuous day, his body and mind were exhausted and desperately needed rest.

After fully recovering his energy, Han Li slowly woke from his sleep. Sitting up, he glanced at the sky. The east was just starting to lighten; it seemed he had slept until the next morning—quite a long rest.

Sitting upright, Han Li didn’t get out of bed. Instead, he propped his chin in his hands, resting his elbows on his knees, and began pondering how to escape Doctor Mo’s control.

It was clear he was safe for the next year. For the sake of his life, the other party wouldn’t harm him but would try to protect him. Yet whether he would still be safe after one year was uncertain.

He didn’t worry about the “Everlasting Spring Technique.” He had mastered the fourth level a few days ago, and the fifth level would be easy to achieve within a year—no need to fret over that.

The “Corpse Insect Pill” problem was also manageable. When the time came, he could display his cultivation progress to the other side and then threaten them to give him the antidote before agreeing to treatment. Surely they wouldn’t want to offend him over that.

Suddenly, Han Li remembered something. He reached into his clothes and pulled out a medicine bottle. From it, he took a jade-green pill, tilted his head back, and swallowed it. After a while, once the medicine began to take effect, he quietly started to introspect.

“Cough! That old Mo really wasn’t lying about this Corpse Insect Pill. The Clear Spirit Powder, which can cure all poisons in the world, is completely ineffective against this pill. Looks like I really have to wait a year before I can get the antidote,” Han Li muttered frustratedly under his breath.

After putting the bottle back in his chest pocket, he got out of bed and went to the only table in the room.

He began pacing around it, walking slowly with his hands clasped behind his back, continuously considering all the problems in his mind.

In truth, Han Li didn’t fully believe what Doctor Mo said. He knew there were many untruths in his words. Unfortunately, knowing this but being threatened with harm to his family, he had no way to resist.
