Chapter 302: The Countermeasure
At dusk, Qin Yan paced anxiously back and forth in the Qin Residence’s main hall, his face full of worry.
Early that morning, a servant who went to deliver food to Han Li reported that Han Li was not in his room and seemed to have been out all night.
This caused Qin Yan considerable concern—not so much for Han Li’s safety, but because he feared that the bodyguard might suddenly leave without notice. If that happened, how would the Qin Family deal with the demonic path’s aggression?
“Qin Ping, go check again if Young Master Han has returned. Report back immediately once you hear any news!” Qin Yan instructed impatiently.
“Yes, my lord,” Qin Ping replied respectfully, secretly pleased. Then, he dashed out of the hall at a swift pace.
From his perspective, the more Qin Yan cared about this Young Master Han, the clearer it was that he had hit the right patron. It seemed that Han Li’s rise within the Qin Residence was only a matter of time.
“Master, why are you so worried? It’s normal for young people to go out and about sometimes. There’s no need to get so agitated!” The Qin Family’s third madam, who was Qin Yan’s most favored wife, was also in the hall. Though her words seemed to defend Han Li, the bitterness in her tone was unmistakable.
It was no wonder. Since Han Li arrived at the Qin Estate, Qin Yan had kept him close at all times. Some of the Qin Family’s previously cherished young masters and misses had been completely neglected. Among those were this madam’s own children, so naturally, her jealousy had flared uncontrollably.
“Hmph, what do women understand?” Qin Yan clearly caught the meaning behind the third madam’s words, but with his mind focused on the family’s survival, he had no time for petty jealousies. He shot her a sharp glance and then ignored her.
Qin Yan’s attitude only made the third madam feel more aggrieved, but she knew he despised women causing scenes. So she swallowed her resentment and remained silent, though her anger towards Han Li grew stronger.
After an unknown span of time, Qin Ping returned with a beaming face. As soon as he entered, he announced loudly:
“Master, Young Master Han is back, and he brought a few guests with him. Young Master Han hopes you can arrange for these guests to stay nearby his residence.”
Upon hearing this, Qin Yan finally exhaled in relief. As long as this great figure hadn’t left without a word, it didn’t matter if he brought a handful—or dozens—of friends back; he would have no complaints.
“Since Han’s honorable nephew said so, just have them stay at Qingyin Courtyard nearby. Don’t neglect the guests of Han Li,” Qin Yan said without hesitation, causing the third madam’s face to darken further.
“Yes, I’ll take care of it right away!” Qin Ping once again rushed out with great energy.
“Master, isn’t this a bit inappropriate? The Qin Residence is vast and prestigious; letting a few strangers move in suddenly might be too reckless!” The third madam cautiously spoke up.
Her concern wasn’t entirely directed at Han Li but stemmed from a general unease.
Qin Yan was momentarily taken aback, but after a brief hesitation, he waved his hand dismissively.
“It’s no problem. Han’s honorable nephew’s friends won’t cause any trouble.”
Hearing Qin Yan’s indulgent words about Han Li, the third madam was completely speechless.
...
At this moment, Han Li sat in a chair inside his residence. Before him sat five others—the five friends of Mengshan.
Among them, a young man was speaking animatedly, while the others occasionally added a few remarks. Han Li wore a thoughtful expression.
Outside Yue Capital City, in the wilderness, Han Li used his powerful spiritual awareness to successfully erase the blood curse from the previous four people. Then, he led them quietly to the only middle-aged woman left behind.
Surprisingly, they managed to bring her out smoothly without any difficulty.
Although slightly unexpected, Han Li also removed her blood curse and then returned with them to the Qin Estate.
